Online Auction Description

09/15/1974 at the Yale Bowl in New Haven Connecticut Mark Moseley makes his Redskins regular season debut. Moseley had been sitting out and George Allen called him up in February as he remembered Moseley kicking a couple of FG's at RFK while he was with Houston and they were in a driving rainstorm with about 6 inches of water on the field. Allen had to check with the team photographer to find out who that was as that image stuck in his mind. Moseley made seven consecutive Field Goals in pre-season to beat out the incumbent Curt Knight. Moseley had been cut after the opening game against Denver in 1972 and had been out of the league since then, but continued to train and work out on his own.

Mark Moseley kicks an Extra point in his 1st game as a Redskin and starts his Team Record of 70 Consecutive Games Scoring (that runs thru the 14th game of 1978) & this also marks the beginning of his Team Record Most PAT's attempts Career as he finishes with 442 in 1986 as a Redskin.

Playing against Bill Arnsparger in his debut as Head Coach of the NY Giants the Redskins win 13-10. George Allen keeps his opening day record perfect at 9-0! (The Giants played at the Yale Bowl while their stadium was being built).

This is Mike Bass' favorite game of his career as he was the hero of the game for intercepting a Norm Snead pass returning it 28 yards to the Redskins 1st TD of the game and he also recovered a NYG fumble that put Washington in position for Larry Brown's 5 yard TD run.

Excellent condition ticket stub with mild pocket creasing across the 1 (for Game 1) --clean front & back with a decent usher tear at the far right.
