Online Auction Description

Wake up and smell the coffee! Have you ever snuggled into your sleeping bag, hoping that someone else would get the camp coffee pot started?

The percolator was the accepted way to make coffee at home, too, for the first half of the 20th Century. Several generations now have never used one and somehow have the idea that they just don't make good coffee - which is nonsense.

Here's how to make good perked coffee:

Put coffee in the basket, a rather coarse grind, not one of those fine grinds which will fall through the holes, making your drink gritty. The water is put into the pot and heated until it perks up through the central tube and splashes back onto the basket, dripping through the coffee and down into the pot.

It has a Pyrex perk top, the glass bubble that lets you see something of what's going on inside.

Heads up! Here's the secret: once it has started to perk keep the heat low, then remove the pot when the coffee reaches the perfect strength for you.

It's ideal for camping, even if you are devoted to the programmable electronic monster sitting on your kitchen counter at home.

Here's a white enamel pot trimmed in black with a handsome black enamel basket inside. The original label is still in place, although the pot looks like it has been used a few times. The percolator was manufactured by Bellaire Enamel Co of Bellaire, Ohio, no longer in operation as far as I can determine.

It stands about 7 1/2” tall, not counting the bubble top. You can expect six cups of great coffee from a pot of this size. There is no chipping, deep scratches or other damage to the finish.

Enjoy a mug of steaming coffee from this percolator that is probably a lot older than you are!
