Online Auction Description
Family Heirlooms... what do you do with that vintage pin your aunt gave you? IN TIME FOR PROM or MOTHERS DAY
- A GEORGIAN/Victorian STYLE CULTURED PEARL & Quartz Tassie NECKLACE

I love vintage jewelry, especially the "bling" of Faberge and Tiffany but who can afford the big retail jewelers with the antique/vintage pieces?
So, I want to design Fabulous Family Heirlooms and started my own line... looking for those charming antique victorian or Georgian Brooches , especially those with old long stemmed pins and trombone hinges to use as focal points.
I incorporate ancestors antique / vintage brooches into my designs. I am not a gemologist or jeweler
so I have to trust the sources from whom I buy.

In the 18th & 19th century many old antique brooches were worn, but not so much so today especially the old "C" clasp brooches. Even the costume grade brooches of that era are gorgeous survivors and should again find a functional purpose.

* This item - no hallmark. Most OLD jewelry was not hallmarked.
This is a brooch (has a pin clasp) I don't know if it was added later because the design of the metal support has several holes as if something else was attached like drops and a necklace.

The gilt metal looks aged and has the appearance of two horseshoes connected to the center. The center features a clear ?Glass "Tassi" looking cameo. It is carved deeply on the back. When I rubbed the metal with cleaning abrasive it got "more goldish" so I don't know if this is tarnished gilt silver or pinchbeck or ??? It is the age of the piece and the design that is of interest to the piece.

I turned this into this necklace using 4 lb fishing twine that I secured to the metal frame via the designated holes.

I bought a double stranded "black pearl" necklace once and I used a lot of those pearls along with clear quartz chips that I bought from another dealer. I strung it as shown and I finished it with a claw clasp that is marked STERLING from another old necklace.

Because I have had necklaces break all over the floor of an airplane (pearls lost) or in a restaurant, i string my
jewels on 4 lb fishing twine and it is sometimes doubled as in portions of this necklace. Each necklace takes me hours to design and assemble. Sometimes I don't like the end result and start over.

The necklace is about 18" to the clasp fittings.

The clasp is from another necklace. It is marked Sterling.

and
I am including a white jewelry box.

My prices reflect the cost I have in finding the components and the labor plus the fees to sell. Hoping that someone will love this as much as I do.
