Online Auction Description

Sturdy but flexible buckskin leather, dark caramel color, in remarkable condition for an antique jacket. An eagle spreads its wings center back, and a smaller one appears in the design across the shoulders.

Handsome fringes for appearance as well as shedding rain.

Weight: approx 2 1/2 lbs

Shoulder width: 19”

Sleeve length: 22”

Total length: 27”

Upper fringe: 9”

Lower fringe: 4”

Weight: a little over 3 lbs

The design is made from narrow white leather attached by machine stitching. Aside from a few sections where this stitching has come loose there is no visible wear.

The buttons are formed from wool yarn and close either to the left or to the right with little wool loops.

The pockets are fairly high – rib level - and finished with the white trim leather

The color of the lining is not accurate in the pictures. (My apologies. I tried hard but the camera had its own ideas...) It is actually a light-medium blue cotton material.

This item probably dates from the 1920s or 1930s when the first owners spent some time out West. It has remained in the family since, most of the time in safe storage. It came to us in the 1970s. And we stored it again.
