RodrÃguez won the World Series with the Marlins in 2003, and also played in the 2006 World Series while with the Tigers. On June 17, 2009, RodrÃguez set a MLB record by catching his 2,227th game, passing Carlton Fisk. During his career, he had the best caught stealing percentage of any major league catcher, at 45.68%
RodrÃguez was awarded the ALMVP award in 1999. He is also regarded as one of the best defensive catchers of all time.
He finished his career with the Washington Nationals in 2011.
On June 8, 2010, RodrÃguez returned from the DL in time to catch for Stephen Strasburg's Major League debut. In this debut, Strasburg struck out 14 batters and walked none over seven complete innings. This game has already been dubbed as one of the greatest major league pitching debuts of all time.
