D-351 The Sun Smasher/Starhaven VG-
The Sun Smasher
By Edmond Hamilton
Cover by Ed Emshwiller
"It can't be true! It must be some kind of hoax!" These were the words than went spinning through the mind of Neil Banning when the Greenville authorities told him that the house he had grown up in, the aunt and uncle who had raised him, had never existed.
Thus, a nondescript publisher's rep found himself in jail, charged with disturbing the peace, and perhaps with insanity. But when a man from outer space came to his cell at midnight and hailed him as the Valkar of Katuun, Banning decided that maybe the authorities were correct. Maybe he was crazy! The only alternative was to believe the impossible explanation of the outworlder-that he was the exiled ruler of a remote star-world, the heir to an empire which had fallen 90,000 years before, and that the personality of Neil Banning was an elaborate fraud.
Wonderful Stuff! First book publication. Magazine version was entitled Hammer of the Valkars.

After seven years of beachcombing on the pleasure world of Mulciber, Johnny Mantell thought he had hit rock bottom. Then he was unjustly charged with murder, and knew that there was worse to come.
Johnny had to get out, and the only place for an outlaw like him was the refuge world of Starhaven, a planet artificially encased in metal, a metal shell so strong as to withstand the most powerful disintegrators available to the Space Patrol.
Once there, Johnny's only wish was to forget the past and be left alone; but the super-scientific dictator of Starhaven had other plans for himâ¦.
High-class, fast-moving adventure with a great hook at the end. Originally published in hardcover by Avalon Books, 1958.
Covers look clean. Very faint traces of dirt. Reading crease on the Hamilton side. Spine is heavily rubbed at all four corners. Pages are brown. Binding is broken at page 88 of Sun Smasher.
