9/24/2001 vs Washington Redskins at Lambeau Field on MNF
This was the first game back after the 9/11 tragedy of terrorism that took down the Twin Towers, wrecked the Pentagon and of the jet liner that went down in Pennsylvania. With a large crowd waving American Flags and chanting U.S.A. it was a highly charged emotional scene just before the introduction of the Packers starting lineups and the singing of the National Anthem by Martina McBride.
The chant increased in volume as Chris Gizzi in full uniform came out of the tunnel leading his team mates as he carried an American Flag and sprinted the entire length of the field just prior to the introduction of the Packers starting Defensive Unit. (If you saw this game, which a large TV audience did, these memories were forever imbedded in your mind and the thought of all this ought to send a tingle throughout you) ---
It gained vocal momentum as 150 Policemen and Firefighters from Greenbay and Northeastern Wisconsin moved out from the sidelines to unfurl a huge 90 x 120 foot American Flag in the center of the field, then rose to a crescendo as the Packers players ran to the center of the field to join the Policemen & Firefighters in holding up the flag, setting the stage for Martina McBride's stirring rendition of the Star Spangled Banner.
In dominating on Monday Night Football the Packers have their largest point differential win on Monday Night with 37 points in a 37-0 win as this was perhaps the greatest home field advantage ever witnessed.
Note Brett Favre eclipsed 35,000 Yards Passing in this game.
