Ace 99501 The Zeppelin Fighters GOOD

The Zeppelin Fighters
By Arch Whitehouse

One of a series of Ace reprints concerning aerial warfare during the FIRST World War. These primitive planes and the bold men who flew them are a sharp contrast to today's ultra-safe jets with their entire seats able to be ejected and automatically open a parachute.

Thinking of World War I aerial warfare as dogfights between wooden planes, one forgets that Graf Zeppelin's airships also played a major role in the early fighting.

There were Zeppelin raids on England and France, dropping as many bombs as the B-17s and B-29s of the next world war were capable of! The Allies were caught off-guard, but their gallant airmen learned quickly. The dirigibles were shot down remorselessly, and that form of warfare disappeared from Earth forever.

Which makes this chronicle all the more fascinating: the story of a type of airship which once threatened to dominate the world!

First Ace printing, 1971. The cover has some dirt and scratching, and two faint vertical creases. Spine is rubbed at the bottom and is wrinkly. Pages are off-white. Binding is tight and square.
