Written on drum head is: JOHN. H. KELLER / Born Feb 4, 1836 / Died Sept 15, 1911 / Drummer boy Co. C. / 78 Reg Pennsylvania Volunteers / Drum used by him in / Civil war

Private John H. Keller was recruited into the 78th Regiment on the Pennsylvania Volunteers in Clarion County Pennsylvania on September 16th, 1861 at the age of 25. He was mustered out with the Company 3 years later on November 4th, 1864.

It was restored by Jim Ellis at Cooperman's in 2014. One head was replace with a goat skin head. A new period correct cord was added along with 11 ear pulls. No other work was done to it. The original broken head and rope comes with this drum in the event the buyer wants to return this drum to it's original found condition.
