Online Auction Description
Cambodia 1999 issue, Scott's catalog # 1844 CTO, topical: mollusks, clams, shellfish, sealife. This stamp is without defects, has no damage, with nice fresh color, and nice light cancel.
The swan mussel, Anodonta cygnea, is a large species of freshwater mussel, an aquatic bivalve mollusc in the family Unionidae, the river mussels.
The shell is thin but large (approximately 10 to 20 cm) and rather flat, even at the umbo. The shell color is often pale greenish or brownish. For differences from Anodonta anatina.
This species is found in rivers and lakes. They have a strong pungent odor and are used by carp fisherman as bait.
This scan had a hair on the scanner bed that went unnoticed at that time. Look at right side of stamp one-third down from the top.
