Online Auction Description

A large rectangular pan for casseroles, sheet cakes, brownies, definitely a period piece. It fits snugly into an insulating carrier of white Styrofoam flecked with green. Think Potluck Supper. Perfect for picnics, too! The hard foam carrier fits perfectly and closes tight without external fasteners.

The baking pan is an alloy with some of the slight rusting that this material always seemed to acquire (see picture).

The foam, surprisingly, has no broken pieces or dents, even on the molded handles. There are a few smudgy marks on the top of the cover – perhaps fingerprints? No attempt has been made to remove them.

Dow Chemical patented Styrofoam in 1941. Then a version of the product was made for “craft use”, white with green flecks as opposed to the commercial Styrofoam which was the classic blue.

This baking pan measures 9 inches x 13 inches x 2 1/8 inches

Overall measurements, including the carrier: 10 3/4 inches x 16 inches x 5 3/4 inches.

In remarkably good condition and ready for a batch of brownies or your famous lasagna. Take it to your church supper - it will stay hot.

This outfit will cause comment, guaranteed! But whether from nostalgia or disbelief is anybody's guess...
