G-723 STAR HUNTER/VOODOO PLANET Fair
The "short" halves of two older Doubles,
Here printed with a single cover.
By Andre Norton
Ras Hume had set out with his civ clients on a big-game safari on Jumala. This was to be a huntning party, but what they were really after was known only to Hume. Somewhere in that other-world jungle, a man, reconditioned with another man's brain pattern, was planted. Whoever located that supposed sole survivor of a spaceship crash would reap an enormous reward.
Their planted man, Vye Lansor, was a mistake. His brain was throwing off the conditioning, and parts of his past were peeping out from behind the mental barrier. When he broke through the mental trauma, he would cease being quarry and become the hunter himself.
And, lurking on the edges of the story, is a third force, probably not even remotely human, determined to turn both parties into hunting trophies!

During a layover in their new mail route, three members of the Solar Queen's crew are invited to vacation on the Africa-like planet Khatka. Settled by refugees from the sub-saharan continent on our home world, Khatka is a maze of jungles inhabited by some godawful fierce beasties. Its settlers have combined the science that drove men to the stars with the primitive "magic" of their ancestors.
A fair copy. Heavy edge wear, worst along sides of spine. dirt and wrinkles on back cover. Pages are tanned; some are stained at lower outside corner. Binding is tight with an upward roll.
