Welcome to CoinZip's about me page
Education in electronics and a love of Numismatics
makes the World Wide Web my natural canvas.
When I was a child my grandfather would ask me to help him look through his coins. He claimed the dates were too small for him to see, so I would read the dates to him. It was a clever way to spark interest in the hoby. It worked because 35 years later I'm still looking.....
6 Years of service in the US Navy gave me the opertunity to learn about computers & electronics. Working as a Gas Turbine Electronics Technician from 1988 to 1994, I served aboard 2 Guided Missile Cruisers, CG-60 USS Normandy & CG-67 USS Shiloh. Both ships were built in Bath Maine & I was stations aboard both before their construction was completed. In December of 1990 while stationed aboard USS Normandy I was deployed to the Red Sea, part of Operation Desert Shield. Operation Desert Storm began on 16 January 1991, and USS Normandy operated in both the Red Sea and Persian Gulf.
I believe Education is the key to keeping Numismatics alive.
One of the questions I'm asked the most is "How did you learn so much?" CoinZip was founded in 2007 to help answer this question. With features like the Coin Show Calendar, Message Boards, Coin Dealer Locator people can easily find information or contribute information.
I started selling online in December of 1998 since then I've made my living buying and selling Antiques, Coins, Currency, and Postcards.
