Westmoreland Paddle Wheel Berry Bowls / Dishes - 2 (0987-F)

These individual berry bowls are exquisite! They were made by Westmoreland and the pattern name is Paddle Wheel. The Westmoreland Specialty Co. was the original name for the Westmoreland Glass Co. at the turn of the century. This pattern - Paddle Wheel - was made in 1912, making these bowls just under 100 years old! The pattern has an assigned number - OMN #575 which I believe refers to the Paddle Wheel pattern. These are unmarked Westmoreland pieces, signifying they are original. They did not mark their glass until much later in their production runs. Each bowl measures 5 1/2" across and 1 1/2" deep at the highest point. This is clear pressed glass with gold trim. The paddle wheels are a rich gold and the starbursts are clear. The sawtooth rim is edged in gold which is also immaculate. Each of these dishes seems to have a least one flaw in the sawtooth rim, but the gold finish is still intact, so that leads me to believe the flaws were done in production before the gold was painted and/or fired. These are fabulous. The pictures don't do them justice! There are no chips or cracks detected.
