This gorgeous cobalt blue decanter is adorned
with four paintings depicting US Navy & Marine history. It is ringed on the
lower neck with assorted flags from U.S. history as well. Around the lower
circumference of the decanter are the Latin phrases âMARE MERIDIES ATLANTICUMâ,
âMARE INDICUMâ, âMARE SEPTENTRIO PACIFICUMâ, âMARE MERIDIES PACIFICUMâ,
âOCEANUS ARCTICUSâ and âOCEANUS ANTARCTICUSâ. My Latin is long forgotten but I
assume that these relate to the Oceans of the World. The stopper is inscribed,
in gold, with a map of the United States, Hawaii and Alaska with the words âINTERNATIONAL
ASSOCIATION OF JIM BEAM BOTTLE & SPECIALTIES CLUBSâ. This is a ships
decanter: A ships decanter is marked by itsâ very wide base and shallow height
and therefore creating a very low center of gravity for stability at sea and on
land.
Handcast by Wade, there were ONLY 450 made with the Cobalt Blue stopper and another 450 with a
white stopper. There is no denying that these are very hard to find and very
rare.
This exquisite Shipâs Decanter has NEVER
been used as witnessed by the pristine condition of the cork on the stopper.
