In the 1980s the characters were brought back to life and updated in Warrior Magazine. Warrior was an anthology magazine publishing work by many of the top British writers and artists of the time. The contents were black & white and magazine sized. Each issue contained maybe 6 pages or so of a particular story line. It is these comic strips which Eclipse comics licensed and reformated in a smaller size for the American market when the first few issues introduced Marvelman to an American public. Later Eclipse issues were new strips that were not in the original UK Warrior magazine. For the first time the strips were also now in colour and several issues of Warrior comic art would be needed to fill one American issue. The other big change was that by this time Marvel comics would not allow the use of the Marvelman name in the USA. The name was now changed to Miracleman. The change in art ,writing and direction of the 1980s strip was far removed from the fairly basic original comic strips of the 1950s/1960s. These early strips were cleverly written into the new story line as a dream induced false memories / fantasies.
