Marcelle Bergerol was a member of the âAtelierâ of Edmond Heuzé, who was one of the leading personage of the figurative movement from the beginning of the last century and his studio was one of the great contributor to the âEcole de Parisâ society.
Marcelle Bergerol is being described as a âregionalâ painter, which means that she focused her talent on a specific locality. This region is known as the âQuercyâ, an exceptional and magic area of the southwest of France, traversed by the Dordogne River, and home to the most beautiful, charming villages and magnificent castles of Europe. But her main place of residence was Paris, where she painted extensively the monuments, life and people of the City of Lights.
She also traveled and painted a lot in Brittany near the little port city of Beg-Meil, where she used to go on vacation every summer, and which is only 20 miles from Pont-Aven, which is a well known city that hosted and influenced some of our greatest grand masters, as Gauguin and Sérusier.
