Vintage Porcelain Occupied Japan Miniature Toby Pitcher
Following World War II, the
United States occupied Japan from 1945 to 1952, during this time the
United States helped to restore Japan’s economy by setting up an agency
to encourage and control the exporting of goods from Japan to the United
States. Items exported from Japan were marked or labeled “Made In
Occupied Japanâ€, “Occupied Japan†or “Made In Japan†most commonly in
black or red ink although the color of the ink has no significant
meaning
This vintage 3 inch high miniature Toby pitcher is marked on the bottom:
Made In Occupied Japan
Terrific condition with some light vintage paint loss on the rim and handle
Please note – along the rim of the
toby there is a chip that happened while it was originally made and was
painted over during the painting process which shows the more crude so
to speak manufacturing that first started out in Japan after World War
II – see pictures
