I am always amazed at the beauty Mother Nature gives us! The Tourmalinated Quartz or "Lodolite" is one of my favorites. These "mistakes" in gemstones have become the most highly coveted gems and are used in "Red Carpet" jewelry!
NOTE: The pendant is 100% more beautiful than the photo shows!!!
This pendant measures 40 x 24 mm or 1 3/4 inch x 15/16 inch from the top of the bale to the bottom. The gemstone measures 24 x 19 mm (approximately 20 carats)!!
The bale (opening for chain) measures 8 x 7 mm, or 3/8 inch x 5/16 inch...quite large so you can use an omega or herringbone if you like, as well as the smaller chains.
I have been experimenting with settings of 60% Sterling Silver and 40% white metal alloy to keep costs down, but retaining the beauty of 925 sterling silver. This "alloy" looks like 925 SS and is just as strong and durable.
The setting for this gem is carved and scalloped and small to just enhance the gemstone's beauty and uniqueness.
