This is Belle of the South (clothes only - no original doll) Artistic Series XII, made by Raphael Tuck, the famous English printing firm, copyright 1894. This is an original paper doll set, not a reproduction! This set has six outfits (2 outfits have duplicates) and NO ORIGINAL DOLL (Included is a scan of a duplicate doll printed on cardstock and cut out, ready to display).
BONUS: The scanned doll is printed out actual size on cardstock and cut out, ready to frame or display with the original clothes.
The first dress is red with white upper sleeves, marked Artistic Series XIIa (the front of the dress is nice, with no staining, but the dress is missing one hand and has bends at the shoulders, the waist and the right arm, is missing 1 tab)
The second dress is white with red trim, marked Artistic Series XIId (the front of the dress is good with some staining, has no bends at all and is missing both tabs)
There are 2 dresses which are blue with gold trim and is marked Artistic Series XIIb (one dress is missing one arm & has many bends and I made repairs to the back side of this dress by gluing cardstock on the back of the bent places, it is missing both tabs. The other blue dress is in great shape, has a wrist bend and bends at the bottom of the jacket, is missing both tabs).
The next 2 dresses are green with yellow sleeves and collar. The first green dress is missing a sleeve and has a neck bend and is missing both tabs. The 2nd green dress is great except for a bend on one shoulder and the bottom of the dress hem, is missing 1 tab).
This is a nice set of paper dolls that is over 100 years old! The clothes are around 8" tall each. PayPal only. Payment must be received within 7 days of end of auction.
