The primary item was part of the collection of Henry J. Hauschild Jr., who billed himself as a âPhysiognomist â Bibliopolist â Cognoscente di Eccellentissimoâ, and was the very proud owner of the world famous "Nose Galleryâ at âThe Oldest Houseâ in Victoria, Texas. Henry Senior founded the Hauschild Music Company which was later owned by his 8 children and eventually the four brothers before being closed in 1980; After the Opera House Restaurant failed, the space became the Bible Book Store and later Opera House Antiques; This item was part of the leftover inventory of the Music Store and at one time was on consignment at the Bible Book Store;
"Musicologist and historian, Delmer Rogers, longtime member of the staff of the Department of Music at the University of Texas, is of the opinion that the Hauschild Music Company, founded in Victoria, Texas in 1891, was the second oldest institution to commercially publish sheet music in Texas. (Thos. Goggan of Houston being the first.) Also, his extensive research indicates that Hauschild's was the first in Texas to issues music with Spanish titles. About thirty were published, many by talented writers, and sold in large numbers. In addition, probing seems to prove that Hauschilds was the first to publish the efforts of several of the music-loving Germans of the area. Most interesting, too, is that the spritely composition, the Cowboy Rag offered in 1904 possibly was the purcursor of this genre of popular music." taken from "The Cognoscenti Collections";

HISTORICAL NOTE: "Teddy Randazzo (May 13, 1935 - November 21, 2003) was a NYC born pop songwriter who composed 1960s hit songs such as "Goin' Out of My Head", "It's Gonna Take a Miracle", & "Hurt So Bad". In the early years of rock & roll, Randazzo played with a group called The Three Chuckles & appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show numerous times. Their 1st hit "Runaround", was a top 20 hit. He co-starred in rock revues staged by the legendary disc jockey Alan Freed, appearing with such artists as Chuck Berry & LaVern Baker. Randazzo also had some starring roles & often performed in such rock films as Hey, Let's Twist, The Girl Can't Help It, Rock, Rock, Rock & Mr. Rock and Roll in the late 1950s & early 1960s. Randazzo wrote a string of major hits for other artists with composing partner, Bobby Weinstein, including "Pretty Blue Eyes", a top ten hit for Steve Lawrence. The two were inducted into the Songwriters' Hall Of Fame in 2007, fifty years after first composing together. He penned many songs for Little Anthony & the Imperials, producing & arranging several albums for the group in the mid-60s. The hit songs included "Goin' Out of My Head" (#6 Pop, #22 R&B), which was covered by numerous artists including The Zombies & Frank Sinatra; "Hurt So Bad" (#10 Pop, #3 R&B), which was covered by The Lettermen (#12 in 1969), as well as Linda Ronstadt who took it to #8 in 1980; & the Imperials' Top 20 hits, "I'm On The Outside (Looking In)" & "Take Me Back". The Lettermen combined "Goin' Out of My Head" with Frankie Valli's hit, "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" in a medley which reached #7 in 1968. He arranged & produced two albums on MGM Records with Baltimore girl group, The Royalettes including the Top 50 hit "It's Gonna Take A Miracle" in 1965. He gave the group a big production sound with a full orchestra (compared to sparer instrumentation for Little Anthony recordings), but despite critical acclaim & good reviews for their live shows, the group failed to achieve a major commercial success. "I Want To Meet Him", the follow-up in 1966, reached the Hot 100 & the Top 30 R&B charts. "Miracle" was revived in 1982 by Deniece Williams, who took it to the number 1 R&B spot & #10 in the Hot 100. All of the 27 songs that Randazzo produced on the two albums, plus another issued on single, appeared on a CD retrospective of the Royalettes' complete MGM output released by UK label, RPM in late 2010. Many of Randazzo's tunes became pop classics, recorded by a gamut of industry giants from Ella Fitzgerald to (as mentioned previously) Frank Sinatra. "I've lost count on how many versions there are", Randazzo once said of "Goin' Out Of My Head". It is now included in the Top 50 most recorded songs with sales of over 100 million by over 400 artists, according to the Songwriters' Hall Of Fame. He also co-wrote songs with his 1st wife, Victoria Pike. Randazzo wrote "Yesterday Has Gone", which was recorded by UK band Cupid's Inspiration in 1968 & climbed to #4 in the UK pop chart. Later, he provided several songs for albums by New York soul group, The Manhattans during their 1970s' hey-day, including the 1977 hit, "It Feels So Good To Be Loved So Bad" (#6 R&B, #66 Pop). He also co-wrote songs with his 1st wife, Victoria Pike. During the early & mid 60's, Randazzo toured extensively with his own band appearing at the Copacabana, New York, Hotel Americana, San Juan & regularly at the Thunderbird Hotel, Las Vegas. Band members included renowned musicians: Larry Taylor, Gerry McGee, Tommy Boyce, Bobby Hart, Vince Megna, Billy Lewis, Kenny Rankin, Bobby Weinstein & Billy Barberis. Randazzo married R. Shelly Kunewa of Hawaii & divided his time between their home in the islands & their home in Florida for most of the latter half of his life. He continued writing music, & at times, producing. Randazzo co-produced (with Tom Moffatt & Frank Day) & arranged the song & album Honolulu City Lights, also writing the music for the string accompaniment. The song was a hit, the album has become a classic. In 2004, the editors of Honolulu Magazine asked a panel of distinguished recording industry veterans to rank their choices for the best Hawaii album of all time. Honolulu City Lights was chosen #1. The song was later recorded by other artists including The Carpenters. Randazzo died in his sleep at age 68, at his home in Orlando, Florida. Randazzo & his writing partner, Bobby Weinstein, were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2007..";
HISTORICAL NOTE: "Trini Lopez (born Trinidad López III, 15 May 1937) is an American (Chicano) singer & guitarist. Lopez was born in Dallas, Texas, on Ashland Street in the Little Mexico neighborhood. He began his entertainment career in Dallas playing at the Vegas Club, a nightclub owned by Jack Ruby. He made his name on the club circuit of the Southwestern US before being 'discovered' in 1962 playing at the club PJ's in Hollywood, California, by record producer Don Costa. Costa was taken with Lopez's Latinized versions of contemporary hits & signed him up to Frank Sinatra's record label, Reprise Records. His debut album, Trini Lopez Live at PJ's, was released in 1963. The album included a version of "If I Had a Hammer", which reached number one in 36 countries (No. 3 in the US) & was a radio favorite for many years. It sold over one million copies, & was awarded a gold disc. He also performed his own version of the traditional Mexican song "La Bamba" on the album; his recording of the tune was later re-issued as a single in 1966. His popularity led the Gibson Guitar Corporation to ask him in 1964 to design a guitar for them. He ended up designing two: The Trini Lopez Standard, a rock & roll model based on the Gibson ES-335 semi-hollow body, & the Lopez Deluxe, a variation of a Gibson jazz guitar designed by Barney Kessel. Both of these guitars were in production from 1964 until 1971 & are now highly sought after amongst collectors. Some owners of the guitar include Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters & Noel Gallagher of Oasis. He scored 13 chart singles through 1968, including "Lemon Tree" (1965), "I'm Comin' Home, Cindy" (1966) & "Sally Was a Good Old Girl" (1968). On the adult contemporary chart, he ranked up 15 hits, including the Top 10 singles "Michael" (1964), "Gonna Get Along Without Ya' Now" (1967) & "The Bramble Bush" (1967). Beyond his success on record, he became one of the country's top nightclub performers of that era, regularly headlining in Las Vegas, Nevada. During the 1960s & 1970s Lopez moved into acting, though his film career was not as successful as his music. His 1st film role was in Marriage on the Rocks (1965), in which he made a cameo appearance in a nightclub scene; Lopez's soundtrack song, "Sinner Man", became a hit single (No. 54 pop/No. 12 adult contemporary). He was one of The Dirty Dozen (1967) & starred in Antonio (1973). He made two appearances (playing different characters) on the television program, Adam 12. He continued his musical career with extensive tours of Europe & Latin America during this period; an attempt to break out by releasing a disco album in 1978 proved a flop. Lopez produced a single promoting the Coca-Cola soft drink Fresca in 1967. Since then, Lopez has done charitable work & received honors such as being inducted into the International Latin Music Hall of Fame in 2003. In 2002, Lopez teamed with Grammy Award-Winning artist-producer Art Greenhaw for a critically-acclaimed return to Trini's Texas-style roots & the resulting album LEGACY: MY TEXAS ROOTS. The album used the "Texas Roots Combo" including Trini himself, Greenhaw & Lopez' brother, Jesse. Said reviewer Steve Leggett of All Music Guide, "The album has an easygoing feel very similar to Lopez' classic live sets from the 1960s, only it rocks a good deal harder." He was still recording & appearing live in the 2000s. He took part in a benefit concert to raise money for the victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake & tsunami. Albums: 1963: Live at PJ's; 1963 More Trini Lopez Live at PJ's; 1964 On the Move; 1964 Live at Basin St. East; 1964 The Latin Album; 1965 The Folk Album; 1965 The Love Album; 1965 The Rhythm and Blues Album; 1965 The Sing Along World of Trini Lopez; 1965 Trini Lopez Live in South Africa; 1966 Trini; 1966 The Second Latin Album; 1967 In London; 1967 Now!; 1968 It's a Great Life; 1968 Welcome to Trini Country; 1969 The Whole Enchilada; 1969 The Trini Lopez Show; 1970 Viva; 1971 Trini Lopez Live in Tokyo; 1977 Y Su Alma Latina; 1978 Transformed By Time; 1991 The 25th Anniversary Album; 1998 Dance Party; 2000 Aylole-Aylola; 2001 Dance the Night Away; 2002 Legacy: My Texas Roots; 2005 Romantic and Sexy Guitars; 2008 Ramblin' Man.
