Item Description

Time-Life Millenium hard cover. The American Dream The 50'S. A wonderful time to be a kid. Born after the war at a time of some affluence, particularly in the growing suburban neighborhoods filled with young families, the sounds of playing children filled the air. Girls, for the most part, favored jacks, hopscotch or jumping rope to the chant of "teddy bear-teddy bear" or "icka backa soda cracker". Boys played cowboys and Indians or transformed themselves into ray gun toting spacemen waging fierce space battles. For parents that grew up during the difficult Depression years, the noisiest fun was sweet music. "The America Dream" offers you a chance to look back at all the people who made the '50s what they were. A lovable redhead who became a top star of TV's Golden Age. A black minister who used eloquence in the civil right's struggle. A baseball manager whose unique fracture of the language came to be known as Stengelese. A war hero president who made golf the latest craze and a Soviet leader who said, "We will bury you". Soutnik, Korea, The Baby Boom, and other events that defined who we are today. So much more here to tell then I can even begin. Book is in excellent condition. 11" x 9", hardback, 192 numbered pages. Add 3.95 shipping US. I accept most forms of payment and will combine shipments whenever practical.
