This DVD has two of Julie's wonderfull Christmas TV Specials from over the years. Filled with song and dance with Julie and her special guests, this is a classic that no Julie Andrews fan should be without at Christmas!
"The Sound of Christmas" Originally Broadcast Dec.16th 1987, This is one of the last truly entertaining holiday specials. The stars shine, in particular Julie Andrews, with each performing musical numbers tailored for the vocal talents. Filmed entirely in Austria utilizing locales featured in "The Sound of Music," the special is truly a visual and musical gem. Miss Andrews looks and sounds terrific. Her wardrobe is tasteful and flattering especially the silver lame show stopper she wears in the fantasy sequence. Surprisingly, the rapport between Placido and John Denver seems genuine and John's duet with Julie on "Edleweiss" is a joy. Other musical highlights include Placido's "Ave Maria," his duet with Julie on "Something New in My Life," the King Singers with Julie on "A Christmas Fantasy" and "The Twelve Days of Christmas," plus Julie's solos on "In the Bleek Midwinter" and "The Sound of Christmas."
"Julie's Christmas Special" Originally Broadcast Dec.14th 1973, Julies second Christmas Special was yet another Classic, Julie sings "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" and "Ring, Christmas Bells." Peggy Lee and Julie sing a medley including 'Just in Time,' 'Swinging on a Star' and 'Sentimental Journey' Julie dreams that Santa Claus (Peter Ustinov) refuses to deliver his gifts, and the Sugar Plum Fairy seems not to care, on this fantasy musical hour filled with Christmas songs and carols.
There is No Cover Artwork but DVD does come in a protective sleeve.
