This race disables Voyager, and while Chakotay attempts to prove that their mission is a peaceful one, he learns that his people are genetically related to the aliens.

They believe the colonists can lead them to the Caretaker's mate and, in turn, possibly home. Meanwhile, the Ocampa leader, Tanis, assists Kes in honing her rapidly maturing mental abilities.
