Item Description

2 old adventure style young folks books like we read as kids in the 50's. Both around a 4th-6th grade level. The one is titled Sacramento Sam by David Willian Moore, illustrated by Henry C. Pitz. Published by Thomas Y. Crowell Co. NY, 1951. 8&1/4" x 5&3/4", 208 numbered pages. First few lines of intro read, "The lust for gold was in the air in 1848, even in Boston. But Captain Thorn was not interested in gold. Master and owner of the Annie Lynn, he crammed the holds of his ship with woolens and sailed for San Francisco. He wanted only a share of the profits offered by this fabulous new market." 2nd book is titled Paul Revere and The Minute Men by Dorothy Canfield Fisher, illustrated by Norman Price. Published in 1950 by Landmark Books Random House. 5&3/4" x 8&1/2", 174 numbered pages. This book is considerably more worn than the first one as this one was once a school library book. Opening lines: "It was almost exactly two hundred years ago, but don't think that boys were not boys then. To go swimming in hot weather was just as much fun as now. And old Boston of 1746 had ever so many docks reaching out into good swimming water". Add 3.95 shipping US. I accept most forms of payment and will combine shipments whenever practical.
