This Page includes a collection of three engravings entitled "The Bridge of Xerxes Across the Hellespont - Illustrative of Herodotus"; The First has a "site plan" showing the Coast of Europe and the Coast of Asia with the Pontoon bridge (actually a pair) extending between the coasts near the Aegean Sea; Details are noted for various design and construction features; Figure 2 shows an "elevation" of a boat (barge, float, etc.) and the deck above the boat; Again, Details are noted; Figure 3 shows a winch used to control the cables utilized to link the boats and deck into a single structure; Some of the details are noted in English, others in Greek!; a few of the words are Latin!!;

This cover page was removed from a book and is in good condition except for some staining and spotting and a tear at bottom center wear sheet had been folded;
The primary item was part of the collection of Henry J. Hauschild Jr., who billed himself as a âPhysiognomist â Bibliopolist â Cognoscente di Eccellentissimoâ, and was the very proud owner of the world famous "Nose Galleryâ at âThe Oldest Houseâ in Victoria, Texas; It is believed that earlier this item was part of the magazine and newspaper collection of Edwin Hunt Frost of Yonkers, New York.
