Kolter Brothers pocket watch. This 6 size pocket watch was manufactured for the Kolter Brothers of Beaumont, Texas. The jewel count is unspecified but it probably has 7. A 6 size watch is 1.25" in diameter. It is a stem set sidewinder, meaning the winding shaft is at the 3 o'clock position on the dial. The hinged case was manufactured by the Providence Watch Case Company and was warranted for 20 years. A 20 year warranty indicated a pretty good watch case. The case is elaborately monogrammed on the back and the plate is worn through in several places. It was common practice during the late 1800's to mid 1900's for a prosperous retail company to order watches from Elgin, Hamilton, Waltham and other watch makers and have the watch labeled with the store's name. Many prominent retailers, such as Sears & Roebuck, Montgomery Wards, Pennys as well as smaller store chains did this. The watch is in average condition for its age and is non-working. Perhaps it only needs cleaning. Sold as is. No refunds. No returns.
