Item Description

Black and White photo of Bannack, MT was purchased through an estate sale. This is a black and white photo by Ray Miller. Label on back says Mr. Miller lived in Ronan, MT. Photo was not intended for reproduction without permission of the Photographer. This is not a reproduction nor can it be reproduced. I believe Mr. Miller is deceased since I have been unable to locate him. Bannack was founded in 1862 and in 1864, Bannack was named as the first Territorial Capital of Montana. Remaining in Bannack for only a short time, the Capital moved on to Virginia City. Photo was probably taken in the mid to late 1960's.
