Philippines Ver Reyes Facade of Old House Oil Painting

Born in Orani, Bataan 1967. Art lessons, Intl Correspondence School. Two of his great uncles were telon artists. His father Melencio Sapnu Sr, studied drafting at Don Honorio Ventura's trade school in Bacolor Pampanga, and owned a billboard and cinema shop in Mariveles, Bataan. Two siblings are painters - sister Louie Tolentino and brother Melencio Sapnu Jr, thus he close to sign his works with mother's surname, Reyes. Early influence, his brother Melencio and Vincent Ramos. Subjects are the nipa hut, still lifes, and old houses and market scenes. His works usually have a spot of drappled sunlight or the shadow of leaves on the grass that draws the eye. Exhibited with the Sampaloc group in the 80's Won grand prize at the Sibol ng Sining competition in 1980 sponsored by the Bataan Export Processing Zone. Based in Mariveles.
