Philippines Manuel Baldemor Filipina Pen & Ink 1980

Born Paete, Laguna 1947. BFA UST 1968. Son of Perfecto Baldemor, a folk artist. Younger brother is sculptor Angelo. Belongs to an artist’s clan of Paete, a town know for woodcarving. First attracted attention in the early ‘70s with pen-and-ink drawings, capturing in meticulous detail the folk spirit of Paete. Major awards in 1972 and 1973, and Best Entry in 1982 at AAP Annuals. A Thirteen artist awardee of the CCP, 1992. [ CCP Vol IV-AG ] *** An avid traveler, has held numerous one-man shows in museums and galleries in the Phil and overseas including Seoul, Beijing, Teheran, Tel-Aniv; Mainz Vilnius, Moscow and NY. [Art in Glass]*** First one-man show at Hidalgo Gallery in 1972. Represented the Phil at XIV Salon Int’l Exhibit, Paris Sud, France. Also does paintures-a cross between painting and sculpture, with the colors of the former and the three-dimensional properties of the latter
