Baculin, Banganga,
Davao Oriental, 1969. (Figurative neo-ethnic cubism) Came to Manila in 1990 to
apprentice under maternal first cousin, painter William Yu. Added art
instruction under painter Roger Gutierez in 1994. Paternal grandmother, Sipa,
was a pure Mandaya maiden. As a child , lived with them with the Mandaya tribe
in San Luis, Caraga, Davao Oriental, up to the age of 15, and is fluent in the
Mandaya dialect. Is good at doing Mandaya baskets and hammocks. Tries to
integrate Mandaya patterns into his designs. Eight group shows, the latest in
1998 in San Jose Village, Ayala Alabang
