Paneled Glass Tobacco Jar or Humidor w/ Wood Lid - (1162-C)

This is a nice smaller sized glass humidor or tobacco jar. I don't know what the pattern name on the jar is, but there are 16 panels encircling the glass container. There is a wooden lid with a knob handle in the center and the inside has 4 metal clips which hold a sponge type item in the center of the lid under the knob. This spongy part was probably intended to hold the moisture to keep the tobacco fresh. The jar measures 5" high. The outside measures 4 1/16" across the top center opening and 3 3/4" across the center of the bottom of the jar. The jar measures 3 1/4" across the top center opening to the interior or the lip that fits up in the lit and 3 5/8" to the exterior of the lip. The lid is 2" high and fits securely over the jar. There are no chips or cracks, but as you can see in the photos, the wood is old and has use marks. This is a thick heavy jar and is in very good condition for its age. This is really a nice vintage piece for a tobacciana collector.
