Item Description
This is a hard cover book that is in really good condition . There is a pair on initials written on the first blank page. It is a book club edition that is copyrighted in 1983 printed by CHARLES SCRIBNER'S SONS publishers.
Doctors shouldn't commit suicide. Doctors are supose to save lives, not take them. But Dr. Arnold Pettifer has killed himself, and Detective Inspector Luke Thanet is called to view the body. Luke Thanet HATES looking at bodies. And he especially hates looking at this one. Why would a successful, healthy doctor with a fine son and a beauitful, pregnant wife want to die?
It's clearly a suicide. Dr. Pettifer left a note--- not a long one but definitely to the point.
But something doesn't add up. Why was his wife , Gemma, away for the night? Why did husband and wife have seperate bedrooms? Was he having financial difficulties, trouble in his medical practice? Was he, unknown to his family , suffering from some fatal ailment????
