This shell is Chlamys senatoria subspecies nobilis, (Reeve, 1852) Japan. It is found offshore to 20 m. It is locally abundant and comes in many colors. This one is wearing several colors. This shell will appeal to the novice collector to the serious conchologist. This shell is complete with both valves and was commercially cleaned so that the shell's beauty could show. It is approx 2 +1/2 inches high and 2+ 1/4 inches across. It comes with collection data and is ready for your enjoyment and study.
