Magnesaverâ„¢

Doing the job your oil filter can't do by itself

There is a lot to read here. You can read the details in black, or if you are pressed for time, read the highlights in red.
Your vehicle is experiencing wear, from metal particles in the oil that filters alone, cannot handle.

If it has moving parts bathed in oil, you probably need this. Case in point, the standard automobile engine. Engines have oil that reduce friction, wear and heat during operation, Because there is some metal to metal contact, especially at start up before there is oil pressure, metal parts in your engine wear. What does this mean? It means that parts of you engine are reduced to tiny metal grains, which are circulating in your oil as you drive. Your oil filter has a tough job - remove these particles. An oil filter is basically a can filled with pleated paper. The paper has tiny holes in it, which allow the oil to pass through, but traps the particles. Sounds simple, and it is. However, this paper hinders oil flow. If the holes in the paper where smaller, then smaller particles would be trapped. The problem is, that your oil could not get through either, so some particles get through, no matter which brand of filter you use. As time goes on, more and more particles get trapped in your filter, which makes the holes effectively smaller and fewer. While this actually improves the filters ability to strain out these tiny pieces of metal, it also reduces the amount of oil flow in your engine. This is why you need to change your filter every other oil change. New engines are even worse, they wear faster during their break-in period. New engines especially, need extra protection. Usually the practice is, or should be, to replace your first oil filter and oil change within 500 miles.

Motorcycles are especially prone to this type of wear. As you know, your multi-disk clutch is bathed in oil. Every time you engage or disengage your clutch, your friction plates are wearing down your steel plates. Add to this the problem that the same oil that runs through your gearbox, is lubricating your engine. Then, to make matters worse, motorcycles usually run lower oil pressure than cars, which means that clearances are smaller where the oil cushions between metal surfaces. Motorcycle engines operate at speeds, far exceeding those of automobile engines, and frequently do not have robust oil pumps. Hard acceleration and deceleration, also impact lubrication problems. Compounding the issue more, many bikes use roller, ball, and needle bearings with extremely small clearances and precision finishes. One last bit of bad news, these types of bearings are expensive.

Enter the Magnesaver

The Magnesaver super powerful magnet traps magnetic metal particles

The Magnesaver is nothing more than a special magnet, attached to your oil filter. A magnet can attract iron and steel particles to itself from the oil, before it reaches the pleats of your filter. The first obvious benefit of this, is that you filter does not clog as fast. The real benefit however, is that the Magnesaver traps particles that would actually pass through your filter. These particles are responsible for a significant part of your engine wear. Could you use any ordinary magnet? Of course you could, and it would have some effect. The Magnesaver has special features, which make it superior to regular magnets, and those of our competition. To be honest, there have been some companies both before Magnesaver and after, which market magnets for this purpose. Some are pretty good, most are not.

Magnesavers out perform other products.

The Magnesaver's design, makes it superior to similar products.

The Magnesaver is not a flat magnet. Why is this important? An oil filter is a curved canister. If you place a flat magnet on a curved surface, part of the magnet is suspended in the air. This increases the distance from the magnet to the magnetic particles, making escape more likely. even the bottom of most oil filters is rounded. If the bottom were flat, there is still a problem. The bottom of the filter is the one place where there is the least oil circulation, making a magnet placed there almost totally ineffective. When shopping for a filter magnet, find one that is curved to follow the contour of the canister.

To the right is an inferior, flat type magnet for the bottom of the oil filter. Note the large gap between the flat magnet and the curvature of the bottom of the oil filter. This gap weakens the effect of the magnet, and the location is where there is very little to no oil flow. This is not the way to go. However, if you think these are better, feel free to buy them elsewhere, but we won't sell this design ever, they are junk, trust me. Use these for picking up screws and nails off your garage floor.

Magnesavers are more effective.
Magnesaver represent the best value. Pictured to the left, the Magnesaver magnets conform to the shape of the sides of the canister, where the oil flow is. They are extremely powerful, and no metal attracted can escape, and that will be obvious to you the moment you feel the power of these magnets. Some deceptive competitors will tell you that holding the metal particles here, interrupts the flow. Think about that, if there is enough metal there to do that, then your engine is already history. Don't you hate it when people try to take advantage of what they think is your ignorance? If you really think you need a magnet at the bottom, put one of ours there, included here are enough to do that if you wish. No one else lets you do both! The picture makes the magnets look smaller than they are, as the bottom of the filter is closer to the camera, than the magnets are.

The Magnesaver is extremely powerful, and specially shaped to improve effectiveness.

The Magnesaver is very powerful, over 10 times more powerful than any magnet you have probably experienced, for it's size. This is the most important factor - effective strength of the magnetic field - if it isn't Neodymium, it is a wimpy magnet. The more powerful the magnet, the more particles that are attracted and at greater distances. Some of the competition magnets are so weak, they require a molded strap or plastic snap on cap to hold them on. Ours hold themselves on and will not let go without a fight. When shopping for a filter magnet, look for one that is made of Neodymium-Iron-Boron, of N40 - N42, ours are N42 (you can use magnets higher than N42 if you are confident that they will not get hot).

Are ours the best? I don't know. I have seen bigger oil filter magnets, not more powerful. I have seen many ones equally powerful, but they aren't curved. I have seen curved magnets, but they were not Neo magnets. If you can find curved Neo magnets, they are probably as good as ours, if they are cheaper, buy them, if not, buy ours. Manufactured since 1990. Originally sold for $39.95 each, but loosened licensing has allowed Magnesaver to re-enter the market at a lower price.

Where else can you use them? Glad you asked. The engine is not the only place where wear occurs, and the oil filter is not the only place to install them. I use them on the oil pan as well, and both the ones on the filter and on the pan trap particles. The bottom of the pan where it joins the sides, has a radius, which works nicely with our curved magnets. Even if you mount these on a flat surface, they will still work, at about 90% effectiveness. The pan on an automatic transmission vehicle is another good place, especially since the filter on an auto transmission tends to go unserviced. Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth automatic transaxles, have shown special sensitivity to particles, I would not run one of those without these, auto trannies cost too much to let a piece of dirt ruin it. One note of caution here though. many modern transmissions have electronic parts in them. I recommend knowing where those are and not putting the magnets too close to such parts. Although I have never heard of any problems caused this way, it is better to be safe, than sorry. The inspection cover of your differential is another place which can benefit from a Magnesaver I would think, though we have done no testing to see if that is the case.

  • We have the most powerful magnets

  • Ours are curved for maximum effectiveness

  • Installs in less than a minute, without tools.

  • Can easily be transferred when you get a new car, saving you money on the new vehicle in terms of wear, and not having to purchase another magnet or set of magnets.

  • Best value, the least expensive magnets of this strength

****READ THIS!!!!****

A few words of caution. These are powerful magnets, If you do not keep control of them, the can jump suddenly to metal objects or other magnets. The develop high speeds and momentum when this happens, and can cause injury or damage to objects or themselves. Not really a problem, just be careful, not careless. Also, keep these away from cassette tapes, diskettes, credit cards, or other magnetic media. Keep these away from TV's and monitors, and other electronic equipment especially pacemakers. Do not attach to hot surfaces, such as exhaust systems (high temperatures reduce the magnetic strength). The pans of some cars, are made of aluminum. Magnets will not stick to aluminum, so you would have to fasten the magnets another way (high temp silicone gasket material works, if you thoroughly clean the surface first. These magnets will rust if exposed to moisture, a good coat of paint or applying a film of oil prevents rust quite effectively.

Reread the above about being careful, handling these magnets. Also, when you receive these, the come in a small cardboard box. Inside the box is packing material, the magnets, and sometimes there is sheet metal to provide magnetic shielding of other items traveling in the mail. The sheet metal has sharp edges and can cut you. Be careful unpacking these. If the magnets are laying flat inside, and if you bump them they can flip around and snap together, so, hold your hand on top of the group, and pull each magnet off, one at a time. When you set a magnet down, make sure it is not near metal or other magnets, Do not buy these unless you accept the responsibily to handling these carefully, and understand the warnings.

These magnets are Neodymium-Iron-Boron, of N42 composition. Don't waste your money on weak ferrite or alnico or ceramic magnets, they are inneffective for this purpose. Insist on Neodymium magnets. These are not surplus disk magnets sold to you as though they were designed for the purpose, that is why WE HAVE THE CURVE, and though it costs more to produce that way, we keep the price down, preferring performance in our product, not extra profit. Look carefully an you will spot the the Magnesaver on the right side of the filter, pictured. Quantities at this price are limited.

Normal minimum order is 100 pieces, this is a rare opportunity Here you can see how well the Magnesaver hugs the curves of an oil pan, a 3.8 liter Chrysler V6 in this case.

Lines of magnetic flux travel in circuits represented here by dashed circles. In this illustration, all circles are equal in strength. The size of the circle, represents how far the magnet is able to effectively draw in magnetic particles. This depth of attraction, is a function of the mass of any given single magnet section. The best made filter magnet among our competitors, is made up of many small magnets. This allows them to contour to the shape of the canister, which is an important consideration.

However, by using smaller magnets, they sacrificed the ability to reach all the way into the pleats. We spent the extra money to create magnets which are actually curved. No bottom mount magnet even remotely has a chance of
reaching the pleats.
What did we sacrifice? We did not spend money on fancy labels & packaging, nor on advertising. We focus on fleet service and industrial applications. We sell a limited quantity of Magnesavers through eBay and other online sites such as this one, in order to get them into the hands of people, who show them to friends. Eventually, oil change businesses, fleet managers etc., contact us for volume purchases, from this word of mouth exposure. We wish to thank the online community for their enthusiasm.

Great pricing, no competition in terms of value.

In early 2006, we lowered the price to $19.95 per magnet. Now, we have broken all price barriers, Our new price is for a package of 8 Magnesavers. Now you can have enough to put on several cars, or several places on the car, or share with friends. Ready for the new price?

New price is an unprecedented $34.95 per set of 8, it doesn't get better! These cost about $4 each just to manufacture, so this price is less than what is costs to manufacture, and get them to you. We do this, for cheap advertising. We cannot afford to lose lot's of money, but losing a little money per sale here, is marketing money well spent. Is there a catch? Not really, these magnets are second quality, and the factory will not sell them at the usual $19.95 each. They are fully functional, and are discounted because of cosmetic defects, they are as effective as perfect magnets.

The following picture, shows two Magnesavers separated by 1-1/2 inches of particle board. The view is from above. The pull of the magnets is so powerful, that they do not slide down, but clamp to the board, in spite of the distance between them. This pull at distance, is what makes them outperform the competition.

If you want these, don't wait.

This is the lowest price anywhere when you count the cost plus shipping and handling charges. The packaging, is also the reason we do not normally sell single magnets here, the packaging expense is the same, and we feel that each magnet out there, is an advertisement for us. This is why we sell them 8 at a time. Eight magnets is the most we can ship for the same postal cost, so eight is the least expensive cost per magnet in small quantities. Your choice, one magnet for $12.95, or 8 magnets for 34.95. We used to sell these for $39.95 each, so either way, not a bad deal.
Note: This are brand new, but they are not cosmetically perfect. The do not qualify for the Used or Refurbished categories - that would not be accurate. These have a thin black coating on them, that may or may not be totally intact, they may or may not have a very small amount of rust. Most of these were manufatured years ago, and the show their age. This is normal, but the strength and effectiveness of neodymium magnets will last a lifetime or more. Cosmetically perfect ones are available on the Magnesaver website for $39 for two Magnets. Here you get 4 times as many, for a little less money.
