The primary item was part of the collection of Henry J. Hauschild Jr., who billed himself as a âPhysiognomist â Bibliopolist â Cognoscente di Eccellentissimoâ, and was the very proud owner of the world famous "Nose Galleryâ at âThe Oldest Houseâ in Victoria, Texas. Henry Senior founded the Hauschild Music Company which was later owned by his 8 children and eventually the four brothers before being closed in 1980; After the Opera House Restaurant failed, the space became the Bible Book Store and later Opera House Antiques; This item was found with the leftover inventory of the Music Store and at one time was on consignment at the Bible Book Store;
"Musicologist and historian, Delmer Rogers, longtime member of the staff of the Department of Music at the University of Texas, is of the opinion that the Hauschild Music Company, founded in Victoria, Texas in 1891, was the second oldest institution to commercially publish sheet music in Texas. (Thos. Goggan of Houston being the first.) Also, his extensive research indicates that Hauschild's was the first in Texas to issues music with Spanish titles. About thirty were published, many by talented writers, and sold in large numbers. In addition, probing seems to prove that Hauschilds was the first to publish the efforts of several of the music-loving Germans of the area. Most interesting, too, is that the spritely composition, the Cowboy Rag offered in 1904 possibly was the purcursor of this genre of popular music." taken from "The Cognoscenti Collections";

HISTORICAL NOTE: "Saturday Night Fever is a 1977 drama film directed by John Badham & starring: John Travolta as Tony Manero, an immature young man whose weekends are spent visiting a local Brooklyn discothèque; Karen Lynn Gorney as his dance partner & eventual friend; & Donna Pescow as Tony's former dance partner & would-be girlfriend. While in the disco, Tony is the king. His care-free youth & weekend dancing help him to temporarily forget the reality of his life: a dead end job, clashes with his unsupportive & squabbling parents, racial tensions in the local community, & his associations with a gang of macho friends. A huge commercial success, the film significantly helped to popularize disco music around the world & made Travolta, already well known from his role on TV's Welcome Back, Kotter, a household name. The Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, featuring disco songs by the Bee Gees, is one of the best selling soundtracks of all time. The film is the 1st example of cross-media marketing, with the tie-in soundtrack's single being used to help promote the film before its release & the film popularizing the entire soundtrack after its release. The film also showcased aspects of the music, the dancing, & the subculture surrounding the disco era: symphony-orchestrated melodies, haute-couture styles of clothing, pre-AIDS sexual promiscuity, & graceful choreography. The story is based upon a 1976 New York magazine article by British writer Nik Cohn, "Tribal Rites of the New Saturday Night". In the late 1990s, Cohn acknowledged that the article had been fabricated. A newcomer to the US & a stranger to the disco lifestyle, Cohn was unable to make any sense of the subculture he had been assigned to write about; instead, the character who became Tony Manero was based on a Mod acquaintance of Cohn's. Tony Manero (John Travolta) is a skirt-chasing Italian American from the Bay Ridge, Brooklyn neighborhood of New York City. Tony lives at home with his parents (Val Bisoglio & Julie Bovasso) & works at a dead-end job at a small hardware store by day. But on Saturday nights Tony rules the dance floor with his frequent appearances at 2001 Odyssey, a local discotheque. Tony has four close friends: Joey (Joseph Cali); Double J. (Paul Pape); Gus (Bruce Ornstein); & the diminutive Bobby C (Barry Miller). Another, albeit informal, member of their group is Annette (Donna Pescow), a neighborhood girl who longs for a more permanent & physical relationship with Tony. Tony has an older brother, Frank Jr (Martin Shakar), who was the pride of the family because he was a priest in the Catholic Church, but brings despair to the family by leaving the priesthood. Tony agrees to be Annette's partner in a local dance competition. Her happiness is short-lived, however, when Tony dumps her after seeing Stephanie Mangano (Karen Lynn Gorney). Stephanie agrees to partner with him in the competition, but nothing more. Bobby C. asks Tony for advice on getting out of his relationship with his devoutly Catholic girlfriend, Pauline, who is pregnant with his child. Though Tony tells him to dump her, Bobby C. faces pressure from his family & others to marry her, which he clearly does not wish to do. Bobby asks Tony's older brother, former priest Frank Jr., if the Pope would grant him dispensation for an abortion. But when Frank tells him this would be highly unlikely, Bobby's feelings of despair deepen. Later, Tony & Stephanie dance at the competition & end up winning. However, Tony believes that a Puerto Rican couple performed better & that the judges' decision was based on racism. Tony gives the Puerto Ricans the prize, despite hostilities between his group & local Hispanic gangs. Once outside in the car, he tries to rape Stephanie, resulting in her fleeing from him. He then sullenly takes off with both the gang & a drunken & stoned Annette. Annette agrees to have sex with Double J. & Joey. The two friends take turns with Annette, but Annette starts to cry & struggle as the drugs wear off. They then pull the car off onto the shoulder at the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge to partake in bridge-climbing antics. Bobby C is attempting more dangerous stunts than the rest. Realizing that Bobby is acting recklessly, Tony tries to coax him off the railing. But upset at his lonely life, his situation with Pauline, & a broken promise from Tony earlier, Bobby issues a tirade at Tony's lack of care before slipping & falling to his death in the Narrows more than two hundred feet below. Disgusted & disillusioned by his friends, his life & his family, Tony spends the rest of the night riding the subway. As morning comes, he finally shows up at Stephanie's apartment in Manhattan, apologizing for his bad behavior. He tells her that he plans to leave Brooklyn & come to Manhattan to try & start a new life. He asks Stephanie if he can salvage their relationship by being friends & she accepts. They share a tender moment between them as the credits roll. Two theatrical versions of the film were released: the original R-rated version & an edited PG-rated version. (The PG rating was not created until 1978.) Paramount Pictures actually paired up the film as a double- feature along with its other John Travolta blockbuster, Grease. The R-rated version released in 1977 represented the movie's 1st run, & totaled 118 minutes. After the success of the 1st run, in 1978 the film was re-issued to a PG-rated version & re-released during a 2nd run to attract a wider audience. The R-rated version contained profanity, nudity, drug use & an attempted rape scene, all of which were de-emphasized or removed from the PG version. Producer Robert Stigwood said in a recent interview on "The Inside Story: Saturday Night Fever", about the PG version: "It doesn't have the power, or the impact, of the original, R-rated edition." The retooled PG-rated version was 112 minutes. Numerous profanity-filled scenes were replaced with alternate takes of the same scenes, substituting milder language initially intended for the network television cut. To maintain runtime, a few deleted scenes were restored (including Tony dancing with Doreen to "Disco Duck," Tony running his finger along the cables of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, & Tony's father getting his job back). Both theatrical versions were released on VHS, but only the R-rated version has been released on Laserdisc & DVD. The two special-edition widescreen DVD releases include some of the deleted scenes present in the PG version. The DVD also includes a director's commentary & "Behind the Music" highlights. Starting in the late 1990s VH1 & TNT started showing the original R-rated version with a TV-14 rating. The nudity & stronger profanity were edited, but the cut included some of the innuendos from the original film that were cut out of the PG version. The network television version (which premiered on Nov. 16, 1980 on ABC) was based largely on the PG version & contained several minutes of outtakes normally excised from the theatrical releases. It is among the longest cuts of the film. A sequel, Staying Alive, was released in 1983. It starred John Travolta & was directed by Sylvester Stallone. (Staying Alive was rated PG; it also predated the introduction of the PG-13 rating.) John Travolta - Tony Manero; Karen Lynn Gorney - Stephanie Mangano; Barry Miller - Bobby C.; Joseph Cali - Joey; Paul Pape - Double J.; Donna Pescow - Annette, a former girlfriend of Tony, still in love with him; Bruce Ornstein - Gus; Val Bisoglio - Frank Manero, Sr, Tony's father; an unemployed construction worker; Julie Bovasso - Flo Manero, Tony's mother; Martin Shakar - Father Frank Manero, Jr, Tony's brother; a Catholic priest; Nina Hansen - Tony's grandmother; Lisa Peluso - Linda Manero, Tony's sister; Sam Coppola - Dan Fusco, paint store owner, Tony's boss; Denny Dillon - Doreen; Bert Michaels - Pete, owner of dance studio; Robert Costanzo - Paint store customer; Robert Weil - Becker; Fran Drescher - Connie(Drescher's film debut); Donald Gantry - Jay Langhart; Ann Travolta - Pizza girl (Travolta's sister); Helen Travolta - Lady in paint store (Travolta's mother); Monti Rock III - The deejay; Adrienne King - Dancer (uncredited). Donna Pescow was almost considered 'too pretty' for the role of Annette. She corrected this by putting on 40 pounds (18 kilograms) & training herself back to her native Brooklyn accent, which she trained herself away from while she was studying drama at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. After production ended, she immediately lost the weight she gained for the role & dropped the accent. John Travolta's mother Helen & sister Ann both appeared in minor roles in this movie. Travolta's sister is the pizzeria waitress who serves him the pizza slices, & his mother is the woman he sells the can of paint to early in the film. John G. Avildsen was signed to direct but was fired three weeks prior to principal photography over a script dispute with producer Robert Stigwood. Filming Locations: Verrazano-Narrows Bridge; Basketball courts located along Fort Hamilton Parkway near Marine Avenue in Brooklyn, NY. The Verrazano Bridge west bound approach runs above the park containing the courts; Bench vista toward the Verrazano Bridge, located along the Shore Promenade in Shore Road Park, Brooklyn, NY. Accessible to pedestrians via the Shore Road & 4th Avenue footpath park entrance. Accessible to motorists via the parking area alongside the Belt Parkway, east bound just 450 feet prior to Exit 2, 4th Avenue/Ft Hamilton Pkwy, & approximately 600 to 800 feet from passing underneath the bridge; White Castle fast food restaurant, located at 92nd Street & 4th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY; Phillips Dance Studio West, 7th Street & Bay Parkway; 2001 Odyssey, which was later renamed Spectrum (a Gay club) in 1987 before being demolished in 2005. The club was located at 802 64th Street, Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York; Six Brothers Hardware & Paints formerly located at 7309 5th Avenue in Brooklyn was the backdrop for Tony's workplace; Grand Union supermarket on 5th Avenue, today a Staples store located at 9319 5th Avenue in Brooklyn, NY; A coffee shop across the street from the Grand Union, in 2010 a Volkswagen dealership located on the north side of 94th Street between 4th Avenue & 5th Avenue in Brooklyn, NY.
The novelty songs "Dr. Disco" & "Disco Duck", both performed by Rick Dees, were played in the film but not included on the album. According to the DVD commentary for this movie, the producers intended to use the song "Lowdown" by Boz Scaggs for use in the rehearsal scene between Tony & Annette in the dance studio, & choreographed their dance moves to the song. However, representatives for Scaggs' label, Columbia Records, refused to grant legal clearance for it, as they wanted to pursue another disco movie project, which never materialized. Composer David Shire, who scored the film, had to in turn write a song to match the dance steps demonstrated in the scene & eliminate the need for future legal hassles. However, this track does not appear on the movie's soundtrack. The song "K-Jee" was used during the dance contest with the Hispanic couple that competed against Tony & Stephanie. Some VHS cassettes used a more traditional Latin-style song instead. The DVD restores the original recording. Saturday Night Fever received mostly positive reviews & is regarded by many as one of the best films of 1977, often mainly due to its soundtrack music. ("melodramatic, out-dated blockbuster") The film currently holds a 90% "Fresh" rating on the review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes. It also holds a score of 77/100 (generally favorable) on a similar review website Metacritic. It was eventually added to The New York Times "Guide to the Best 1,000 Movies Ever Made," which was published in 2004. In 2010, the film was selected for preservation in the US National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". Film critic Gene Siskel, who listed this as one of his favorite movies, praised the film: "One minute into "Saturday Night Fever" you know this picture is onto something, that it knows what it's talking about." He also praised John Travolta's energetic performance: "Travolta on the dance floor is like a peacock on amphetamines. He struts like crazy." Siskel even bought the famous white suit Travolta wore at a charity auction. Award wins:
John Belushi parodied the film as "Samurai Night Fever", one of his "Samurai" sketches on Saturday Night Live. Belushi spoofed it again in the film Neighbors, during a scene in which tilted camera angles show Belushi combing his hair in front of the mirror as "Stayin' Alive" plays in the background. Ironically, the oft-repeated phrase in the movie, "Can you dig it? I knew that you could," had been made famous on Saturday Night Live during a stand-up performance by Billy Crystal.
The 1980 film Airplane! contained a parody scene, with Robert Hays mocking the famous pose & the clothing shown on the poster & album cover, to the tune of "Stayin' Alive" slightly sped up (the actual song used for that scene in Saturday Night Fever was "You Should Be Dancing"). The Goodies parodied the film in their Saturday Night Grease episode. The Children's Television Workshop published a record album of music from Sesame Street under the title Sesame Street Fever, the cover of which spoofed the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack album cover, with muppetGrover wearing the white three-piece disco suit in the famous Travolta pose & Bert, Ernie, & Cookie Monster taking the place of the Bee Gees. Robin Gibb (of the Bee Gees) sings on two tracks for this album "Sesame Street Fever" Trash" & has a dialog with cookie monster on the into for "C Is For Cookie." In 2000, at the Inner Circle press dinner, mayor Rudy Giuliani spoofed John Travolta by dancing to "Disco Inferno" by The Trammps. Giuliani wore a white 70s-style disco suit. On June 25, 2002, in an episode of Son of the Beach, David Arquette guest-starred as Johnny Queefer in a send-off episode entitled "Saturday Night Queefer", which also included parodies of the Bee Gees songs sung by a quartet of guys breathing helium balloons to get the high voices like the Gibb brothers. In season 6, episode 7 of The Simpsons, Jessica Lovejoy (Meryl Streep) invites Bart for dinner, upon which he says, "There's only one thing to do at a moment like this: strut!". Bart then struts to "Stayin' Alive" in the same manner as Travolta's character at the end of the sequel, Staying Alive. In the film "Look Who's Talking" (1989), the opening of "Staying Alive" is heard as Mikey, in the stroller, hits the street being wheeled by James (played by John Travolta). In 2011, British comedian John Bishop includes a tribute to Saturday Night Fever at the end of his performance on his latest Sunshine stand-up tour. His finale whilst playing in theaters, he included a video of him re-enacting the opening scene and dancing at the discotheque however, whilst performing at arenas, he showed extracts of the video and the section where he is supposed to dance at the disco, he emerges on stage with a troupe of dancers & performs the dance routine like John Travolta..";
HISTORICAL NOTE: ""More Than a Woman" is a disco song written by the Bee Gees (credited to Barry, Robin, & Maurice Gibb) for the soundtrack to the film Saturday Night Fever. The soundtrack includes two versions â one by the Bee Gees & the other by Tavares. Both versions are featured in the film as well. The song has also been done by various artists but in different forms. The Bee Gees did not release this song as a single (though in Italy it was a Top 10 hit), yet it has remained a staple on radio & one of their best known songs. An abridged live version of the song performed by the Bee Gees is available on both the DVD & CD versions of One Night Only. The performance is from 1997. The song has also been included on Bee Gees compilations such as Tales from the Brothers Gibb & Their Greatest Hits: The Record. The very 1st UK pressings of Their Greatest Hits: The Record featured the song with a mastering fault, with the audio noticeably dipping to the right briefly during the 1st verse. This was corrected after several thousand copies had been distributed. "More Than a Woman" was also recorded by Tavares in 1977, & also appeared in Saturday Night Fever & on the soundtrack album. British boy band 911 covered the song in 1998, their version reaching number two on the UK Singles Chart. An acapella style version of song is sung by the Jonas Brothers in the film, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, where they portray cherubs. Hong Kong band, RubberBand, covered the song in their 2011 album, Dedicated to . . . . This was the 1st time RubberBand released an English track.";

HISTORICAL NOTE: "âBarry Alan Crompton Gibb, CBE (born 1 Sept. 1946), is a singer, songwriter & producer. He was born in the Isle of Man to English parents. With his brothers Robin & Maurice, he formed The Bee Gees, one of the most successful pop groups of all time. The trio got their start in Australia, & found their major success when they returned to England. Known for his high-pitched falsetto singing voice, Gibb holds the record for consecutive Billboard Hot 100 Number Ones as a writer with six. Barry Gibb was born to Barbara & Hugh Gibb in the Isle of Man. He has an older sister, Lesley (b. 1945), & three younger brothers, fraternal twins Maurice (1949â2003) & Robin (b. 1949), & Andy (1958â1988). He & his family moved to Chorlton-cu_-Hardy in Manchester in 1953. When he was 12 years old, his family moved to Brisbane, Australia, settling in one of the city's poorest suburbs, Cribb Island. The suburb was later bulldozed to make way for Brisbane Airport. It was in Australia that Gibb & his brothers Robin & Maurice started performing as the Bee Gees. The Gibb family returned to England in 1967. Shortly afterward, the Bee Gees became international stars. The Bee Gees rank 6th on the all-time top-sellers list. When they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997, their citation read "Only Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks & Paul McCartney have outsold the Bee Gees". The trio's contribution to Saturday Night Fever pushed the film's soundtrack past the 40 million mark in sales. It reigned as the top-selling album until Michael Jackson's Thriller. They are the only group in pop history to write, produce, & record 6 straight No.1 hits. They have 16 Grammy nominations & nine Grammy wins. As a songwriter, working alone & with his brothers, Gibb has had great success. In 1978, he had five songs simultaneously in the Top Ten of the Billboard Hot 100, & for one week in March, four of the top five songs were written by him. His songs were No.1 for 27 out of 37 weeks from 24 Dec. 1977 to 2 Sept. 1978. As a songwriter Gibb has had No.1 songs in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s & 2000s, when (Barry) Islands in the Stream became number 1 in the UK as the Comic Relief single for 2009. His songs have been recorded by numerous artists, including Elvis Presley, Janis Joplin, Barbra Streisand, Destiny's Child, Celine Dion, Al Green, Diana Ross, Kenny Rogers, Dionne Warwick, Luther Vandross, Sarah Vaughn, & Wyclef Jean. Gibb has written & produced successful albums for Andy Gibb, Barbra Streisand, Dionne Warwick, Kenny Rogers, & Diana Ross. The Bee Gees are inductees of the Songwriters Hall of Fame & the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. On the 8 May 2007 episode of American Idol, Gibb mentored the four remaining contestants. On the following night, he sang his own song "To Love Somebody" before the elimination of LaKisha Jones. As a preview to his forthcoming country album, Gibb released the song "Drown on the River" to iTunes. The song is also be featured in the 2008 movie Deal, starring Burt Reynolds. Gibb wrote the theme music for ITV's Grease Is the Word. On 14 March 2009, Gibb teamed with Olivia Newton-John to present the one-hour finale performance at a star studded 12-hour live concert at Sydney's Sydney Cricket Ground, part of Sound Relief, a fundraiser to aid victims of the Feb. 2009 Victorian Bushfires that devastated large tracts of heavily wooded & populated south-eastern Australia. The concert was televised live nationally across Australia on the Max TV cable network. In late 2009, Barry & Robin announced plans to record & perform together as the Bee Gees. On 1 Sept. 1970 (his 24th birthday), he married the former Miss Edinburgh, Linda Gray. They have five children, Stephen (b. 1973), Ashley (b. 1977), Travis (b. 1981), Michael (b. 1984) & Alexandra (b. 1991). In 1994, Barry Gibb, along with brothers Robin & Maurice, was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, & in 1997 they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. On 2 May 2004, Barry & Robin Gibb received the CBE award at Buckingham Palace with their nephew Adam, who collected the award in honour of his late father, Maurice Gibb. In Jan. 2006, Gibb purchased the former home of country singers Johnny Cash & June Carter Cash in Hendersonville, Tennessee, intending to restore it & turn it into a songwriting retreat. The house was destroyed by fire on 10 April 2007 while under renovation. On 10 July 2009, Gibb was made a Freeman of the Borough of Douglas. The award was also bestowed upon his brother Robin, & posthumously upon his brother Maurice. On 24 Feb. 2010, Gibb & his wife announced that they had become naturalised American citizens. On 7 Dec. 2006, Barry Gibb, along with around 4,500 other musicians, took out a full-page advertisement in the Financial Times newspaper calling for the British Government to extend the existing 50 years copyright protection for sound recordings in the UK. They proposed that the copyright be extended to the American standard of 95 years. The fair play for musicians advertisement was viewed as a direct response to the Gowers Review published by the British Government on 6 Dec. 2006, which recommended the retention of the 50 year protection for sound recordings.â;

HISTORICAL NOTE: "Robin Hugh Gibb, CBE (born 22 Dec. 1949) is a singer & songwriter. He is best known as a member of the Bee Gees, co-founded with his twin brother Maurice & elder brother Barry. Born in the Isle of Man to English parents, the trio started their musical career in Australia, & found major success when they returned to England. With record sales estimated in excess of 100 million, the Bee Gees became one of the most successful pop groups of all time. Born to Barbara (née Pass) & Hugh Gibb on the Isle of Man, Robin was the twin brother of Maurice Gibb, & was the older of the twins by 35 minutes. The 3rd-born of five children, he has one older sister, Lesley (born 1945), & three brothers, Barry (born 1946), twin Maurice (1949-2003), & Andrew (1958-1988). In the 1950s, the family moved to Chorlton-cu_-Hardy in Manchester, England, then, in late 1958, he & his family moved to Brisbane, Australia, settling in one of the city's poorest suburbs, Cribb Island, which was subsequently demolished to make way for Brisbane Airport. Their music careers began in Australia, & flourished when they returned to England in 1967 & were spotted. Traditionally, Robin's role in the group has been that of lead singer, for which he vied constantly with his elder brother Barry Gibb during the group's 1st period of British success in the late 1960s. This eventually resulted in Robin leaving the group to begin a solo career after his song "Lamplight" was relegated to the 'B' side of Barry's "First of May". Meanwhile, there were rumours of drug problems, & his parents threatened to have him made a ward of court (the UK age of majority at that time being 21, & Robin then only 19). Although initially successful, with a number 2 UK hit, "Saved by the Bell" (which sold over one million copies, & was awarded a gold disc) his album, Robin's Reign, was less successful & he found that being a solo artist was less than satisfying. His brother Maurice Gibb played bass on the song "Mother & Jack", but was subsequently removed from the project by Robert Stigwood. Despite having almost completed a 2nd solo album, Sing Slowly Sisters, Robin reunited with his brothers, who had disbanded the Bee Gees in search of their own solo careers. They came back on a high note, reaching No.3 on the US charts with the song "Lonely Days" in 1970. The following year, they had their 1st US No.1 hit, "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart", but then their success started to ebb. After they started working with producer Arif Mardin in 1974 & reinvented themselves with "Blue-Eyed Soul," the Bee Gees went on to their 2nd period of phenomenal success in the disco-era late 1970s. He also made an appearance on the Sesame Street Fever album, singing on the title track, then doing a song for Oscar the Grouch called "Trash", along with speaking on at least one other song. While continuing in the group, Robin also promoted his solo career, & during the 1980s he released three further solo albums (How Old Are You, Secret Agent, & Walls Have Eyes) which were more successful in Continental Europe than in the UK or US. However, his 1984 single "Boys Do Fall in Love" reached the Billboard top 40. Several extended versions of dance songs were recorded, including ones for "Boys Do Fall in Love", "Secret Agent", "Like a Fool" & the rarest, "You Don't Say Us Anymore"; many only released to DJ's. In the same week as his twin brother Maurice's sudden death, Robin's next solo album, Magnet, was released in Germany on 27 Jan. 2003 (Label: SPV), & worldwide shortly afterwards. It features the Bee Gees song "Wish You Were Here" (from the 1989 album One) in a new acoustic version. The lead single, "Please", has coincidental lyrics about "loss". With Maurice's death, his two surviving brothers, Robin & Barry, disbanded the Bee Gees for a time; however, it was announced in late 2009 that Barry & Robin would reform & perform as the Bee Gees again. Robin has recently sung the vocals to the opening titles to The Dame Edna Treatment. On 18 May 2008, Robin released the song "Alan Freeman Days" in tribute to the Australian DJ Alan Freeman. The song was mainly issued as a download only track although a promotional CD was issued by Academy Recordings. In Dec. of the same year the song was followed by another downloadable song entitled "Wing & a Prayer" which although it shares the same name as a song the Bee Gees issued on their 1989 One album is actually a reworking of the song, "Sing Slowly Sisters", that had remained unreleased since 1970. A week later Robin issued another song as a download, "Ellan Vannin (Home Coming Mix)", featuring the King Williams College Choir from the Isle of Man. A new solo album entitled 50 St. Catherine's Drive, originally scheduled for release in 2008, remains unreleased. In Aug. 2009 a 50 second clip of "Instant Love" from said album appeared as a preview. The song itself is a collaboration with his son Robin-John & a 2nd version featuring Robin-John on vocals appeared in a short film called Bloodtype: The Search in which Robin-John appeared. Robin & his son, Robin-John, are currently writing the score for The Titanic Requiem to be recorded by Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for the 100th Anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. Robin was a guest mentor on The Australian version of the The X Factor, alongside judges, Radio DJ Kyle Sandilands & Natalie Imbruglia, Ronan Keating & Guy Sebastian. In Aug. 2003, Robin announced that he would be releasing a new single of "My Lover's Prayer", a song 1st recorded by the Bee Gees in 1997, with vocals by Robin, Wanya Morris, & Lance Bass. This was played on radio, but was never actually released. In Oct. 2003 another version was recorded as a duet with Alistair Griffin, runner-up in the UK television program Fame Academy, on which Robin had appeared as a judge. My Lover's Prayer, was eventually released in the UK in Jan. 2004 as a double A side CD single, & reached number 5 in the UK charts. In Jan. 2005 Robin joined his brother Barry & several other artists under the collective name of One World Project, to record a charity single in aid of Asian tsunami relief, titled "Grief Never Grows Old". Other artists who performed on the single included Boy George, Steve Winwood, Jon Anderson, Rick Wakeman, Sir Cliff Richard, Bill Wyman, America, Kenny Jones, Chicago, Brian Wilson (The Beach Boys), Russell Watson & Davy Spillane. In June 2005 Gibb joined X Factor runners up G4 at a sell-out concert at the Royal Albert Hall, London, singing the Bee Gees song "First of May". A recording of this performance was released in Dec. 2005 as part of a double A side single, credited as "G4 feat Robin Gibb" together with G4's own cover of Johnny Mathis' "When a Child is Born". This track was also included on the platinum selling album G4 & Friends which reached number 6 in the UK album charts. In Nov. 2006, Robin released an album of Christmas carols called Robin Gibb â My Favourite Carols, backed by London choir The Serlo Consort. The album also features a brand new song written by Robin called "Mother of Love", which was released in Europe as a download single. The song was inspired by Maurice Gibb, & is the 1st new Robin Gibb composition to be published since his twin brother died in Jan. 2003. Royalties of Mother of Love will be donated to the "Janki Foundation for Global Healthcare", & Robin dedicated the song to Dadi Janki, the organisation's spiritual leader. It is also dedicated to Robin's own mother, Barbara Gibb. The album also has a bonus DVD titled A Personal Christmas Moment with Robin Gibb. Gibb went back to the top of the UK charts in 2009 when he collaborated with Ruth Jones, Rob Brydon, & Tom Jones on a new version of "Islands in the Stream", which was written by Gibb & his brothers Barry & Maurice. The new version, inspired by the BBC comedy "Gavin & Stacey", was for the charity Comic Relief. In late 2004, Robin embarked on a solo tour of Germany, Russia & Asia, with Alistair Griffin as the opening act. On his return he released a CD & DVD of live recordings from the German leg of the tour, backed by the Frankfurt Neue Philharmonic Orchestra. A further solo tour of Latin America followed in 2005. In Feb. 2006, Robin joined his brother Barry live on stage at a charity concert in Hollywood, Florida This was the 1st time they had performed together since the death of their brother Maurice in 2003. In March 2006 he announced plans for more solo concerts in Shanghai & Portugal. In May 2006, Robin took part in the Prince's Trust 30th Birthday Concert at the Tower of London along with his brother Barry. They sang 3 songs: "Jive Talkin'", "To Love Somebody" & "You Should Be Dancing". In Sept. 2006, Robin Gibb performed "Stayin' Alive" at the Miss World 2006 contest finals in Poland. In Nov. 2006, Robin performed a solo concert, entitled "Bee Gees â Greatest Hits", at the Araneta Coliseum in Manila, the Philippines. Robin Gibb marked his return to his birthplace by playing a concert at the Isle of Man TT festival in 2007. The Peel Bay TT Festival â 12 Feb. 2007. Robin donated all of his share of the money from this gig to the children's ward at Noble's Hospital, Isle of Man & invited all emergency service staff & marshals for the TT to attend for free. On 8 Sept. 2007, Robin performed a concert in Salt Lake City, Utah at the Energy Arena for the NuSkin Convention singing a set of Bee Gees hits. On 25 Oct. 2007, Robin Gibb performed a concert in Sofia, Bulgaria & sang the Bee Gees most famous songs. On 25 Oct. 2008, to mark the 30th anniversary of Saturday Night Fever topping the UK charts, Robin Gibb performed with special guests including Ronan Keating, Stephen Gateley, Sam Sparro, Sharleen Spiteri, Gabriella Cilmi & Bryn Christopher for the BBC Electric Proms. In 1968 Gibb married Molly Hullis, a secretary in Robert Stigwood's organisation. The couple had survived the Hither Green rail crash, which killed 49 people on 5 Nov. 1967. They had two children together, Spencer & Melissa, but they eventually divorced in 1980 after years of living separate lives, with Robin almost permanently in the US & Molly remaining in the UK. Gibb's 2nd wife, Dwina Murphy Gibb, is an author & an artist. She is interested in druidry & is a follower of the Brahma Kumaris. The couple have a son, Robin-John. Robin & Dwina divide their time among the Isle of Man, Miami, & Thame in Oxfordshire. Gibb is "an ardent vegan & teetotaller". Gibb is a supporter of the Labour Party, & launched a rally in Huddersfield ahead of the 2005 General Election. He is a close friend of the former Labour Prime Minister Tony Blair, who was criticised for staying at Gibb's Miami mansion over Christmas 2006. On 14 Aug. 2010 while performing in Belgium, Gibb began to feel stomach pains. On 18 Aug., he was rushed to hospital & underwent emergency surgery for a blocked intestine, the same condition that killed his twin brother Maurice in 2003. Gibb recovered & returned to performing with concerts in New Zealand & Australia. During this time he was also involved in the memorial dedicated to RAF Bomber Command as well as writing The Titanic Requiem with his son Robin-John, to be recorded by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra ahead of the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic in 2012. Gibb continued to make television appearances & other events following his surgery, but in April, 2011, he was forced by health problems to cancel his tour of Brazil. In Sept., 2011, Gibb recorded the Bee Gees classic "I've Gotta Get a Message to You" with British Army men called "The Soldiers" for a charity single in the UK. Another concert in Paris was cancelled in October 2011, & Gibb was due to perform the charity single with The Soldiers on 14 Oct., but was unable to perform as he was again rushed to hospital with severe abdominal pains. Following his release from hospital on 18 Oct., Gibb appeared on ITV's The Alan Titchmarsh Show in the UK looking gaunt & frail. On 27 Oct. 2011, again Gibb cancelled an appearance only minutes before he was due to perform at a charity event. Later the same week though, Gibb was seen in London & quoted as saying he felt "absolutely great". On 20 Nov. 2011, it was revealed that Robin has been battling liver cancer, which had been diagnosed several months earlier. A source close to the singer stated that his condition is "not good" & his wife, Dwina, has not left his bedside. Brother Barry & his wife Linda, as well as their mother Barbara & Robin's children, Melissa & Spencer, have flown to the UK to be with him. In an interview published in the Daily Mail Sunday 22 Jan. 2012, Robin spoke for the 1st time of the cancer. "For more than 18 months, I had lived with an inflammation of the colon; then I was diagnosed with colon cancer, which spread to the liver. I have undergone chemotherapy, however, & the results â to quote my doctor â have been âspectacularâ. Itâs taken a toll, naturally, but the strange thing is that Iâve never felt seriously ill. Iâve mostly felt great. There have been many false claims around, which Iâd like to dispel. I am not & have never been âat deathâs doorâ. Nor do I have a team of alternative doctors working on my health. Thatâs not true, although Iâm not averse to healthy remedies for any illness. I feel they can go together with conventional medicine. I do eat health foods & drink herbal teas made for me by Dwina, my wife & RJâs mother. Other than that, I am under the care of Dr Peter Harper at The London Clinic". In 1994, Robin Gibb was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, & in 1997 the Bee Gees were inducted as a group into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Robin was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2002 New Year Honours, along with his brothers Maurice & Barry. The official presentation ceremony at Buckingham Palace was delayed until 2004 owing to Maurice's death. In 2005, Gibb received the Steiger Award (Germany) for accomplishments in the arts. Robin & Barry Gibb both received Honorary Degrees of Doctor of Music from The University of Manchester in May 2004. On 10 July 2009, both Robin & Barry were made Freemen of the Borough of Douglas. The award was also bestowed posthumously on Maurice, therefore confirming the freedom of the town of their birth to all three brothers. Gibb's entire song catalogue is published by Universal Music Publishing.";

HISTORICAL NOTE: "Maurice Ernest Gibb, CBE (22 Dec. 1949 â 12 Jan. 2003) was a musician, singer-songwriter & record producer. He was born in the Isle of Man, the twin brother of Robin Gibb, & younger brother to Barry. He is best known as a member of the singing/songwriting trio the Bee Gees, formed with his brothers. The trio got their start in Australia, & found major success when they returned to England. The Bee Gees became one of the most successful pop groups ever. Born Maurice Ernest Gibb to Barbara (née Pass) & Hugh Gibb on the Isle of Man, Maurice was the twin brother of Robin Gibb, & was the younger of the twins by 35 minutes. The 4th-born of five children, he had one older sister, Lesley (b. 1945), & three brothers, Barry (born 1946), twin Robin (born 1949), & Andrew (1958â1988). In the 1950s, the family moved to Chorlton-cu_-Hardy in Manchester, England, then in late 1958, they moved to Brisbane, Australia, settling in one of the city's poorest suburbs, Cribb Island, which was subsequently demolished to make way for the Brisbane Airport. Gibb was married to the Scottish pop star Lulu from 1969 to 1973. Their careers & his heavy drinking forced them apart & they divorced, childless, in 1973. He married his 2nd wife Yvonne Spencely on 17 Oct. 1975. They had two children: Adam & Samantha. Their marriage lasted until his death. Gibb loved the sport of paintball, & had a team which he called the Royal Rat Rangers, a reference to his being named a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), & to his time at the Little River AA group, where the members referred to each other as "river rats." He promoted the sport at every opportunity, & opened a paintball equipment shop, "Commander Mo's Paintball Shop," in North Miami Beach, Florida. Maurice Gibb died at a Miami Beach, Florida, hospital on 12 Jan. 2003 of complications resulting from a twisted intestine (volvulus). His brothers Barry & Robin retired the name Bee Gees for a time, declining to perform as a group. However, as time passed, they decided to perform occasionally under the Bee Gees banner. Maurice Gibb's role in the group focused on melody & arrangements. He sang harmony & backing vocals, & played a variety of instruments. Very early on in 1965 & 1966 he played lead guitar, but as early as 1966 he was playing other keyboard & string instruments in the studio. Bee Gees records from 1967 to 1972 are dominated by Maurice playing piano & bass guitar, along with mellotron ("Every Christian Lion Hearted Man" & "Kilburn Towers"), rhythm guitar (along with Barry), & other parts. The piano on songs like "Words" & "Lonely Days" is the Maurice Gibb sound. On stage he usually played bass guitar, with an additional musician taking bass when Maurice switched to piano. Maurice was less influential in the disco Bee Gees sound of 1975 to 1979, when he played mostly bass guitar. After that time for the last 20 years of his life he played primarily electronic keyboard instruments on stage & in the studio, but occasional lead guitar (including the acoustic guitar given to him by John Lennon, which Maurice used on "This Is Where I Came In", 2001). In the reunited Bee Gees from 1987 onward, Maurice was the group's resident expert on all technical phases of recording, & he coordinated musicians & engineers to create much of the group's sound. As a songwriter, Maurice contributed mainly to melody, with his brothers writing the lyrics that they would sing on the finished song (for the most part). It is difficult to identify his contributions because the songs were so shaped to the singer, but his brothers' continued writing collaboration with him on solo projects shows how much they relied on him. Maurice sang lead on average one song per album. He was sometimes known as "the quiet one" for his less obvious contributions to the group, but privately he was a good teller of stories who immensely enjoyed talking with fans. His reputation as a mild-mannered stabilising influence with two very ambitious brothers continued through his life. His comic personality shone on stage during Bee Gees concerts when the brothers would perform an acoustic medley. Many times during the song "Holiday", Maurice would mock Robin while he was singing or pretend he was bored (Maurice did not sing on the original record). Away from the Bee Gees, Maurice recorded an unreleased solo album in 1970. He also appeared in a short-lived West End musical, Sing a Rude Song written by Caryl Brahms & Ned Sherrin that same year. In 1972, Maurice produced Jimmy Stevens' album Don't Freak Me Out (called Paid My Dues in the US). During the Bee Gees hiatus in the mid-1980s, he worked with both Barry & Robin on their solo projects, & did some instrumental writing & recording including the soundtrack for the film A Breed Apart. In 1986, Gibb produced & co-wrote an entire album for Swedish singer Carola. Of these & other projects, the only work released under his own name were two singles: "Railroad" in 1970 & "Hold Her in Your Hand" in 1984. Maurice's last project was to produce an album's worth of songs written & sung by his daughter Samantha, which finally appeared in 2005 under the name M E GâMaurice's initials. In 1994, Maurice Gibb was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, & in 1997 was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. His catalogue is published by BMG Music Publishing. In 2002, Maurice was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), along with his brothers, but the awards were not presented until 2004, after Maurice's death; his son Adam accompanied Barry & Robin to Buckingham Palace for the ceremony, representing his father. On 10 July 2009, Maurice was posthumously made a Freeman of the Borough of Douglas. The award, was also bestowed on Robin & Barry, therefore confirming the freedom of the town of their birth to all three brothers.";

HISTORICAL NOTE: "Tavares (also known as The Tavares Brothers) are a successful AmericanR&B, funk & soul music group, composed of five Cape Verdean-American brothers from New Bedford, Massachusetts. Ralph â Ralph Vierra Tavares (born Dec. 10, 1941); Pooch â Arthur Paul Tavares (born Nov. 12, 1943); Chubby â Antone Lee Tavares (born June 2, 1945); Butch â Feliciano Vierra Tavares, Jr. (born May 18, 1948); Tiny â Perry Lee Tavares (born Oct. 24, 1949). The Tavares brothers from New Bedford, Massachusetts, whose parents were of Cape Verde descent, started performing in 1959 as Chubby & the Turnpikes when the youngest brother was 9 years old. Future Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer appeared as the "token white-guy drummer" in an early incarnation of Tavares. Chubby & The Turnpikes signed with Capitol records in 1967 & had a couple of local hit records including "I Know The Inside Story" in 1967 & "Nothing But Promises" in 1968. By 1973, they had changed their name to Tavares & scored their 1st R&B Top 10 (Pop Top 40) hit with "Check it Out" that same year, & soon began charting regularly on the R&B & pop charts. Their 1st album included their brother Victor, who sang lead on "Check it Out", but dropped out of the group shortly after. In 1974 Tavares had a #1 R&B hit with Hall & Oates' "She's Gone," (which became a hit for Hall & Oates as well two years later). Tavares followed up that success with "Remember What I Told You to Forget." 1975 turned out to be their most successful year chart-wise, chalking up a Top 40 Pop album (In the City) & their biggest hit, the Top 10 Pop/#1 R&B smash "It Only Takes a Minute", which was later successfully covered by both Jonathan King & Take That, & recently sampled by Jennifer Lopez.They parlayed this success into a spot as an opening act for the Jackson 5. KC & The Sunshine Band was also on this tour. This was followed by a string of hits: "Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel" (1976), "Don't Take Away the Music" (1976), & "Whodunit" (1977, another #1 R&B hit), among others. In 1977 they also recorded "I Wanna See You Soon", a duet with Capitol label mate Freda Payne which received airplay on BBC Radio 1 but failed to chart. Many of their hits, however, underplayed their R&B background & gave the group the image of being a disco act. This perception was reinforced by their appearance on the soundtrack to the film Saturday Night Fever in 1977. Tavares recorded the Bee Gees track "More Than a Woman," & their version reached the Pop Top 40 that year. The soundtrack became one of the most successful in history, giving Tavares their only Grammy. Later albums, such as Madam Butterfly & Supercharged, strayed from the disco format & were less successful on the Pop chart (although they continued to have Top 10 R&B hits such as "Never Had a Love Like This Before" & the popular socio-political "Bad Times" written by British singer-songwriter Gerard McMahon). At the start of the 1980s, Tavares left Capitol Records, signing with RCA. They had one last major hit, the ballad "A Penny for Your Thoughts", for which they were nominated for a Grammy in 1982, & their last major release was Words & Music in 1983. In 1984, Ralph Tavares stepped down from the group, & Tiny left in the mid 1990s, but the other three brothers continue to tour. In early 2009, Tiny Tavares rejoined & is currently touring with the group. "It Only Takes a Minute" was later covered by Britishboy bandTake That, becoming a Top 10 UK hit, & is featured in the soundtrack of Konami's dancing game Dance Dance Revolution 3rd Mix. "Out of the Picture" was sampled by 50 Cent in his 2003 song "Many Men (Wish Death)". Musician Feliciano "Flash" Vierra Tavares, the family patriarch & father of all five members of Tavares, died in 2008. Chubby Tavares will release his 1st solo album, Jealousy, in early 2012 to coincide with the Tavares, Four Tops, Temptations UK tour. Preceding the album a digital-only single was released called It's Christmas. On Dec. 17th it reached #5 on Amazon's Acid Jazz (!!) singles chart. (Both the album & the single were produced by Carla Olson.)";
