1994 Pre-columbian - MAYAN SERIES  MEXICO 1994 MASCARON DEL DIOS CHAAC .999 SILVER PROOF 1 ONZA PLATA PURA.The Mask of God Chaac (Mascarón del Dios Chaac) figure was very well liked by Mayan people who made it their most persistent decorative element through their evolution period. The motif reproduced in this coin can be found in the strange facade of the Kabah Temple, in the Yucatán peninsula, where stylized representations of the Chaac mask, God of the rain, are found. This is a a one year type and is presented in  1 Oz in 1994. This is a one ounce PROOF coin. Minted by the Casa de Moneda de México, the national mint of Mexico and the oldest mint in the Americas, established in 1535. Collectors are putting these away as they are becoming more difficult to find! . The 1994 Mintage reports are conflicting. Reports run from a low of 2,800 to 5,900 maximum!
