... on a winter's day in 1973, the people from Punta Arena watched as an old, unmanned, three-masted vessel without rigging, passed over the Magellan Strait. A true ghost ship, a "Flying Dutchman!" It was the "Andalusia" from the period before the change of the century. The storm had torn the museum ship free and driven it to sea. (from the back of the CD)

The Strait of Magellan, an ocean passage immediately south of mainland South America, located between the continent, Tierra Del Fuego and Cape Horn is the most important natural passage between the Pacific and the Atlantic Ocean. The strait, discovered in 1521 by Ferdinand Magellan during the first global circumnavigation, was originally named Estreito de Todos os Santos. Before the Panama Canal was constructed, this was the second most travelled way to pass from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean, the most used route being around Cape Horn, even though it is known as a difficult route due to the inclimate weather and the narrowness of the passage.
