Legacy Program Five: Central America: The Burden of Time; Isolated from the rest of the world, the Aztecs, Maya and Inca created sophisticated civilizations that in many ways paralled ancient Mediterranean empires. God-like kings and a noble ruling class dominated splendid cities of temples and pyramids. Extensive trade was practiced between cities. The arrival of the Conquistadors caused near obliteration of their culture, but parts of it survive today in the mountains of Central America;

As the world approaches a new millennium, the West must learn the value of other cultures and to coexist with them to create a new future.
