Epiphone FT-160 Texan-12
Just restored by me (30 years owner of Thinmanmusic.com), it sounds great! It is now also in excellent playing condition, and most importantly, it will stay that way! I have re-enforced the neck joint (see pics) by adding what should have been there in the first place, namely proper support! These Epiphones with the bolt-on necks are notorius for imploding around the soundhole, due to the weak neck block. The neck bolts and the joint are fine, it's the block below that's the problem. I've rectified this situation, and done it previously too with other 12-strings, see my pictures! If the action ever changed down the road (as it does on old Martins), it would be a simple matter to unbolt the neck and add a thin shim, as I have done, at the end of the neck pocket. The bolt-on neck feature is a good idea, since it does allow one to change the action without an expensive neck re-set, all you need is a screwdriver (and hopefully a little common sense) to do it! There is a picture of the soundhole wherein I re-enforced it on my ebay auction.
