Item Description
4 Item Set or Lot of Illinois Central Intermodal Map and related items. Includes:
ITEM 1.) Illinois Central Intermodal - Automotive Map; 1995; issued by Illinois Central Railroad; Folded panel, 2 rows of 3 panels each, 6 panel format;
Front has system route map on base map stretching from Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin to New Orleans, Louisiana and Kansas City, Missouri to Detroit, Michigan and Atlanta, Georgia; Major terminals and stations (both on and off-line) are noted; also noted art connecting mainline railroad routes and interstate highways; background is gray with an Illinois Central Logo superimposed in a slightly darker shade of gray; Lower Left corner has box with location and phone numbers for Intermodal facilities at Chicago (at Markham Yard in Harvey, the IMX having been sold to the SP), St. Louis (Venice, Illinois operated by the Gateway Western), Memphis, Jackson and New Orleans; Lower Right corner has boxes with location and phone numbers for the General Offices and Customer Service Center in Chicago, and the Automotive Facility in Jackson (operated by the Pasha Group);
Map is credited to Mainline Publications, Chicago;
Map shows Illinois Central at the depth of it's decline, after all of the various spin-offs and before the Iowa Division was reacquired; Missing are the Chicago Central and Pacific; Chicago, Missouri and Western; Indiana; Paducah and Louisville; Birmingham Route (Sold to Norfolk Southern); Gulf and Mississippi; Mid-South;
An unusual feature is the inclusion of "Remington - Hoosier Lift", the former ATSF (Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe), later TPW (Toledo, Peoria and Western), facility in North Central Indiana; I've forgotten what became of this facility, but it is the only offline point, besides Gulfport and Pascagoula, Mississippi, that is indicated as a station (open circle); All other off-line points are shown with a closed circle; this suggests that IC may have had some sort of agreement that allowed it to quote rates to these nominally off-line locations;
Routes Shown Service Alabama, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee;
Condition Generally Very Good; Covers may show staining and other storage wear; insides clean, and near mint as timetable was never "used";
PLUS 2.) "Railroad Services Expanded"; ICG "Supermode" service between Louisville, Kentucky and Memphis, Tennessee; Article clipped from newspaper; "The Advocate"; Newark, Ohio; Saturday, November 7, 1981; This was a RoadRailer service that went nowhere and died in short order;
PLUS 3.) Color Photo of Illinois Central Geeps 1000 and 6060 (the latter is an Operation Lifesaver Unit); Published as a Photo Christmas Card by Arthur Goodman of Mississippi; Units appear to be pulling a double-stack car; Circa 2002;
PLUS 4.) Paducah & Louisville Railway, Inc.; Letterhead; Used for personal correspondence; punched for 3-ring binder; Has Locomotive and System Map in lower Right Hand Corner; This was one of the many regionals carved out of the IC/ICG before CN started to put it back together;
