Item Description

Huang Huanwu (1906-1985) Original name: Huang Han, style name: Monk Han; native of Xinhui, Guangdong Province. He was a painter with the Shanghai Academy of Chinese Painting, skilled at painting flowers, birds and landscapes. He traveled widely abroad. Coming from the School of South of the Five Ridges (Guangdong and Guangxi), his color application surpassed others from the School. This work portrays an old tree and singing birds in a red flowering tree. The paper is sturdy a little peeling and browning. The pictures has been taken as closeup as possible to show the texture of the color on the paper.
