It includes some history of the former Diocese of Kingston, prior to 1882, and of the territory now served by the Dioceses of Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay, prior to 1904. The Counties of Durham, Northumberland, Peter- borough and Victoria were part of the Diocese of Kingston until the Diocese of Peterborough was erected. The Diocese of SaultSte. Marie and the major part of the Diocese of Thunder Bay, as well as the District of Muskoka and Parry Sound, constituted the Vicariate of Northern Canada from 1874 to 1882 and became the greater part of the Diocese of Peterborough when united with the four western counties of the Diocese of Kingston, This history is divided into ten parts which relate successively the biographies of the bishops, the story of the Cathedral and the histories of the parishes and their missions according to their location in .the City of Peterborough, the Counties of Durham, Northumberland, Peterborough and Victoria, the southern part of the Provisional County of Haliburton, and the Districts of Muskoka and Parry Sound.
