General Magazine Grading Guidelines
Mint (M) - Appears nearly perfect, as if
straight off of the press and never read. Nearly no flaws associated with
damage in delivery or display. This grade is nearly never used.
Near Mint (NM) - Appears to have never been read.
The cover may contain small nicks, corner dings, and other small defects due to
careless handling & delivery.
Very Fine (VF) - Handled and stored with care. The
cover may contain small nicks, corner dings, and other small defects due to
careless handling & delivery. Minor rubbing/creasing signs along
spine/staples from use. May have a slight loss of luster or thumb dimples.
Fine (F) - Shows definite signs of being read,
but with care. Minor cover wear. No major tears or peels. Cover or pages may
have bending, but not to the point of creasing.
Very Good (VG) - Cover may contain moderate wear,
minor creasing (very edges of corners) and minor nicks or scratches but the
interior remains in fine condition.
Good (G) - Cover may contain wear, creasing,
nicks, scratches, small tears and other marks. Pages may have creasing and
other signs of wear. No major tears or peels.
Adequate (Ae) - May not be in good enough
condition for most collectors, but still readable for those who are interested
in the contents. No missing pages noticed.
