Putting their solo projects on hold for a moment, the three decided to collaborate on this project in tribute to some of the great songwriters (including many relative unknowns) whose work has moved them. With arrangements that feature their three-part harmonies prominently, CRY CRY CRY moves through tunes by Greg Brown (the existential Gospel of "Lord, I Have Made You a Place in My Heart"), Buddy Mondlock (the sentimental folk fave "The Kid") and others, some whose names are bound to be new to most listeners. The trio takes turns on lead vocal from song to song, but their shimmering harmonies tie the whole thing together nicely.
