This is a RARE vintage set of boxed paper dolls from the 1940s. The title is: Dolls with Williamsburg Colonial Dress (made under the supervision of Williamsburg Restoration, Incorporated, Williamsburg, Virginia) ©1940 Sam'l Gabriel Sons & Company N.Y.C. There are 6 dolls to this set. This set comes with a paper back book entitled: A Williamsburg Family, A Day in Williamsburg in the 18th Century by Mary Selby, Dolls by Betty Campbell, Published and Copyrighted 1940 by Sam'l Gabriel & Sons Company, New York. The dolls are made of cardboard and the clothing is made of heavy white paper. All of the clothing is cut, there are only 2 stands. The dolls are: Mother, Father, 2 children - a boy (Phillip) & a girl (Belinda) and 2 African American servant dolls - Sukey & Moses. The box top is missing all of its sides, the box bottom has only 2 sides remaining - both of which have been repaired, there is wear and stains to the box top. The boy has ankle bends. All of the clothing is cut out, this set is in played with condition! There is a label on an inside section of the box that has a stamped date of "SEP 19 1944" and a price of $1.35.
This is a hard to find vintage set, even in this condition. Not all of the dolls are pictured, but I have taken many more photos and will e-mail them to you, just ask!
