Item Description
These vintage 1 3/4" diameter cloisonne enameled metal chiming health balls are from the Ancient City Health Ball Factory in Baoding, China.
Each ball is beautifully painted and makes a soothing tone when
rotated. Comes in a silk covered box with instruction manual.
These Baoding Balls depict the dragon and phoenix. In Chinese history,
the dragon and phoenix are complementary symbols and in the same as
light and dark. The dragon is a symbol of the supreme ruler and power
while the phoenix is a symbol of virtue and grace.
The Chinese saying
goes "When the dragon soars and the phoenix dances, the people will
enjoy happiness for years, bringing peace and tranquility to all under
heaven." According to traditional Chinese medical theory Jingluo (this term refers to
various channels in the human body through which vital energy travels and where
important acupuncture points are located), a person's fingers are connected by a
variety of channels to vital organs of the human body, including the brain,
heart, etc.
