Tessie wasn't cut out to be a saint. She wanted all of life - the joys and passions. Her father, a dirt-road religious fanatic, thought the joys and passions - and even marriage - were sinful. Mercilessly he beat the zest for life out of Tessie's sister Bett until she saw things his way.

But not Tessie. There was a neighbor boy and she wanted him. Not that she cared about marriage - she just wanted him, so she took him.

And one day her secret sin took on a life of its own, one she would not be able to conceal for long!

Second Bantam printing, 1950. Clean, bright cover with a reading crease. Rubber stamp reading "E25" across the girl's abdomen and right arm. Spine is clean, with 1 wrinkled spot and one nubbed corner. Pages are lightly browned. Binding is tight but canted.
