Item Description
This is an antique salt box in the basket weave pottery design. The cream or off-white color background is decorated with orange and blue flowers and green leaves. There is black trim around the top of the canister. The wood lid is attached with what appears to be the original hinge screws. The lid lifts freely and is brown in color. This salt box measures 5 1/4" across by 3 1/8" deep by 4 1/4" high in the front and 5" high in the back. There is a hole through the pottery so that the canister could hang on the wall. There are no chips or breaks but this is fire cracked as you can see. We are not able to read the marking stamped on the bottom as it is blurred or smeared but we believe this is from Japan and is probably circa 1920's or 1930's.
