Tonight we are listing another item from my Grandfathers estate, and what we have here is A LOT OF 5 OLD ORIGINAL & RARE " U.S. NAVAL ORDERS FROM THE OFFICE OF THE NAVY, ALL DATED MARCH 10 - MARCH 14, 1947 ....
AT FIRST I THOUGHT THESE PAPERS HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE ATTACK ON PEARL HARBOR AS THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS ARE MENTIONED IN SEVERAL PLACES, BUT THEN I NOTICED THE DATE OF 1947, AND I THINK PEARL HARBOR WAS DEC. 1941, SO THERE GOES THAT IDEA......
THESE ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS, SPEAK OF SEVERAL OTHER BATTLES AND MISSIONS IN PEACETIME BUT I'M SURE MANY BATTLES AND MISSIONS TOOK PLACE BEFORE THE KOREAN WAR.......
The documents were issued by the U.S. Naval Department and they are all dated during a 5 day stretch from MARCH 10, 1947 thru MARCH 14, 1947.......
I know my Grandfather was the captain of some ship in the Navy during the forties, but I'm not sure what famous battles were fought during those dates, as many important manuvers took place during peace time, but my Grandfather saved only these documents for some reason......
The papers are in great shape as they were stored in a picture album MARKED U.S. NAVY- HONOLULU, HAWAII in a box for over 60 years......The only thing worth mentioning is that the paper is kinda brittle, and shows yellowing from age.....These rare papers would look great in any Naval or WW II collection, and the winning bidder will pay shipping of $5.85 within the lower 48 states......Overseas and out of the country shipping will be determined by location...
